A little late in my well wishes but hugely heartfelt all the same. To all my dearest friends and loyal customers and to all followers along here I hope it’s been a magical Christmas with your dearest ones and a restful holiday so far. ✨✨✨

As I now lay bed-bound in betwixtmas, being brought turkey noodle soup while I’m totally floored by flu, I’m so grateful that this awful lurgie came after Christmas and I can cherish all the fun that was had in the lead up and over the big day.

I thought I would share our Christmas branch-tree, something we started last year in Italy when we stepped outdoors and gathered a sculptural branch from the mountainside, but this year the idea pulled us to create one again, so I did a small potted spruce tree for all the boys homemade decorations and this 8ft branch for a main focal decoration to the room and I really couldn’t love it more. ✨

Every year new special baubles and trinkets are sought out but I must share two of this years handmade treasures - a Poppy seed head bauble by bought by my son as a gift for me at the Frome Makers market after I fell in love with it. And the hand painted wooden dancer by , the label tells how it is an heirloom to pass through generations collecting stories and both these will surely do just that.

Sharing some other scenes from these past couple of weeks. I have last weeks beautiful wedding still to share too but one thing at a time….

Studio scenes of the floral arrangements for a Windsor castle event recently 👑
The first hard frost was so late this year meaning I was still harvesting my own chrysanthemum, dahlia, amaranthus, nicandra, cerinthe, grasses and other stems in the second half of November! In small quantities though, so supplementing with Dutch flowers to get the volumes I needed.

It’s been such a different festive season this year, focussing on events and commissions and not running the webshop as per previous years. I still have one wedding to go of the year so it will be ending on a high ✨✨

I will guide you in using sculptural stems and beautiful natural materials to create a striking composition and carefully secure them in place.

My beautiful sister in law Kiki who married her love Alan on Sunday. 🤍
Kiki wanted dried flowers and I created bouquets and buttonholes with echinop Globe thistles, Sea lavender, pearlescent Lunaria seed pods, and daisy like helipterum. I added winged everlasting, Brizia grass and feather grass to add movement.

My boys as ring bearer and page boy, in their tartan bow ties walked with Kiki down the aisle.

Lots of seasonal preparations happening at the moment, with winter fast coming into sight and the diary for Christmas installs and workshops rapidly filling up.

I’m excited to be back at Maze next week creating their new winter windows for their beautiful Bristol store.
These photos are from a previous window install I did for Maze, captured by Tayla Nebesky. It was packed with dried flowers carefully selected to create a wintery feel alongside red rose hips for contrast.

My dearest friend Hunter has been telling me chrome has been making a come back for about 5 years now, I’ve been sitting very happily with brass my go to metal accent ..But this year ive finally been ready to embrace the cool steely tones and have loved incorporating it into events 🤍🩶🤍🩶🤍

Some of the new Dahlia varieties I have added this year have been seriously good…. Details of these below!

The dahlia season and my own cutting garden supply of fresh flowers is soon to draw to a close and I will turn my eyes to other autumnal events and commissions and the big C… thanks for the enquiries for festive wreath workshops - these are soon to go live! Aspire fancy - but I seem to have a blush version without the red which is no bad thing 👌
Freya’s paso doble - this has been incredibly productive and I love that intense yellow centre.

When we do flowers for a wedding day, hour upon hour is spent thinking, sketching, spreadsheeting, and planning for weeks, months (even years) in advance of the big day, then prepping and creating in the studio for days in advance, and then comes the exhilaratingly physical and logistical task to skilfully weave everything perfectly together in a short space of time on the day - making it look completely effortless of course, - and then it’s all over in a flash.

I’m typically left with some snaps on my iPhone knowing they don’t do justice to how good it looked in real life. So it’s always the biggest treat to see the day captured through a professional photographers lens…. did such a brilliant job capturing Ellie and Charlie’s beautiful Wiltshire wedding in August.

There was such care and kindness throughout the planning and such joy and happiness throughout the wedding, set in a stunning family home and the prettiest softest palette to work with

This is such a beautiful time for a wedding as summer fades and the season’s shift. Soft tonal blooms with golden turning leaves. This is Abigail’s bouquet that gave me huge joy creating when working with such perfect seasonal ingredients 🤎

I am excited to be working with to be creating stunning floral displays and helping set the scene at Pythouse Kitchen Garden for an inspiring wedding showcase on the 5th October where it’s an opportunity to meet carefully selected suppliers against the backdrop of Pythouse and Hatch house including estate tours and a feast from the fire. 🔥

Friday was spent with Trilbey in her most recently completed London project - the design and finishing on this private residence is on another level.

I created unique dried flower arrangements for many of the rooms working into awesome sculptural vases selected by Trilbey. This large arrangement sits in the lacquered dining room… it’s a room il now always dream about..

A highlight of this week was squeezing myself into the window of gallery @no6bruton to create a world for magical creatures to sit; exquisite works handmade by the immensely talented textile artist @alicemarylynch for her exhibition ‘Threaded Dreams’. Responding to Alice’s work I threaded grasses through my work, creating stitches as I covered my frame, something that can be seen here (as captured by my passing husband) My work drifts through the window around Alice’s creatures, I included cotton in its raw form as sculptural stems and referencing Alice’s use of the material. If you’re local do pop in and have a look, Alice’s textile creatures really do deserve to be seen up close, they are exquisite✨💫

Some very pretty Christmas decorations going out the studio. These giant floral baubles went out the door last week to @lukeirwinrugs. Variations of these were first made in 2019 for the Pimlico showroom so we are now in the 6th year and it’s become somewhat of a tradition, they are packed with dried flowers and foliage and twinkly lights of course ✨✨✨

Vases all ready and waiting to be positioned as part of the ceremony backdrop this summer for Fi & Sam in the Radic pavilion @hauserwirthsomerset. The bloom varieties were kept separate for striking block impact. The steel cylinder vases were made by a friend of the bride and groom👌 The vintage coupes were from my husbands great great grandfathers cafe & gelateria that served Galashiels for several generations, so using those was pretty special too 🥰
