Bubbenhall Bake-Off and Village Show, Sunday 13 July 2025

It's almost time for this year's Bake-Off and Village Show!

This year we're holding it at the Village Hall on Sunday 13 July.

If you live in the village you will have received a paper copy of the show schedule with the last village newsletter, but you can find it online here:

This is an amateur event and is open to all residents of Bubbenhall, their friends and families. If you have not entered before, do have a go: it’s easy to enter and great fun to be involved. There are lots of categories whether you grow vegetables, bake cakes, take photos, knit, paint... There are lots of junior categories, too!

Entries to the show will be retained and may be auctioned in the evening to raise funds for local causes (with exceptions as detailed in the show rules). If you don't want to enter, why not come and show your support at the evening auction instead? The bar will be open and it's always a fun evening.

All entries to be staged at the Village Hall 10:00 – 12:30
Exhibits closed for judging 12:30 – 15:00
Exhibits re-open for viewing at the Village Hall and voting for the “People’s Choice” award 15:00 – 16:00
Prize giving followed by family auction of produce at
the Village Hall 17:00 – 19:00

Please be aware that a white van was seen forcing its way through the side gate to the village hall and then breaking the gate to the field before gaining access.

Thankfully there is no damage to the hall or outbuildings.

The Police have been notified and we have decided to close and lock the front main access gate to the village hall car park until we can secure the other gates.

If you have seen anything suspicious, please report it to the police.

Thank you to everyone that attended today’s picnic in the Park.

This time next week we will be ready to welcome you all to the 2024 Picnic in the park.
Please make sure you mention it to your neighbours and come down to enjoy an afternoon of fun and laughter.
Are you great at the ‘egg and spoon’? are you a master on a space hopper? Can you keep upright whilst racing in a sack? Or are you nimble to complete the inflatable assault course? Let’s find out.
Games will commence at 1pm. You don’t want to miss it.

It's just 2 weeks to go to the Village Bake-off and Show in the Village hall on Saturday July 6th followed by the prize giving and charity auction of the produce in the evening .
The schedules were delivered with the spring newsletter so dig them out to see what you can enter. We've introduced some handicraft classes for both adults and juniors to highlight the crafting talent in the village and don't worry, you can take your item home after the show unless you want to donate it for the auction .
There's plenty of Bake-off classes , jams and pickles , home made alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks , beautiful flowers from the garden and also floral arrangements which can use commercial flowers . Bring along your best pot plant, succulent or cactus and you can take that home too unless you donate it for the auction.
We're hoping too that there is some garden produce from your fruit and veg plots despite the poor weather and the early date.
We still have the photography, painting and drawing classes with a village theme and these entries might appear in the village calendar . We've expanded the junior classes ( 8 and under plus 9-14 years ) to encourage the youthful growers and makers amongst us. We're looking forward to seeing lots of entrants and entries between 10 and 12.30 then we close for judging. The hall will open again for viewing from 3 -4 and the prize giving will be at 7 followed by the charity auction in the hall. Please come along to support this community event in our Village Hall.
