Morning!

This autumn wreath is going out today , teasels , bunny tails, dried delphiniums , oak and euycalptus . 🍁

I would have taken more time photographing it but I was trying to get the boys dressed , breakfasted etc. The scaffolds coming down today and , Bob decided he didn’t like one of the scaffolders, barking and bouncing on people in the driveway. It was all too much for before 8am.

School run done, now time for coffee ☕️.

Can any of you local people know a good dog trainer in the Hassocks, Ditchling , Burgess hill area? We need to calm Bob down a bit . Recommendations welcome. 🐶

It was my birthday last Saturday, I had a lovely weekend, a walk , a pub lunch etc etc. I got some good gifts for a someone who’s just moved into a run down house with a big garden.
A gardening through the seasons book, some big bushes for planting in the front garden , an air fryer and the biggest Amarylis bulb you ever did see. 🌸.
Hopefully it will be a double one. 🙃

Here’s some proper slow Sunday morning content for you …

This house was once upon a time the gardeners cottage to the big house a few houses down. It was quite a well thought out garden and good soil , though I think it has been neglected for a while.
One of the removal guys pointed out to me that this was a walnut tree. I did not know walnuts looked like this and grew on trees, in fact I’ve never really thought about it before .

Do any of you know about walnuts? If I break open this green skin underneath there is what’s recognisable as a walnut, but it’s defiantly too fresh and the actual nut is white inside. Do I leave them to dry somewhere? Do I pick them? Any walnut experts out there? Feel free to message me advice. 🙃🌰🌳

We’ve moved !

It’s so good to be in, I’m so excited about what I’m going to do here, I excited about all the gardening I’m going to have to learn how to do, I’m excited for the floristry studio I’m going to have ,it’s all looking pretty good.
Im excited about how we are going to renovate the house but for now I’m enjoying the quirks of a house that hasn’t had much done to it for 40 years.
It’s going to be at least 6 months of “before” photos while we get our planning in etc but it’s going to be fun. 🙂🏡

I’ve had a mare of a day. I was trying to organise boxes in the spare room and tipped an entire tin of paint in the carpet. In a mad panic to clear it up with wooden spoons and every cloth in the house I spread it all down the stairs. I finally cleaned it up with a load of white spirit , the carpet isn’t looking great. Sorry new owners. 😬.
I burnt my leg on the oven whilst cooking the lunch , this was because I’d taken off most my clothes whilst cleaning up as I had covered myself in paint and also it’s very hot .

I took a break from trashing the house to go to meet friends on the beach, I couldn’t get out of my parking space when I was coming home and so instead of calling Ricb for help I reversed into a post. I’m done with today!! 😂

This is the last picture of this house , we move next week . This picture is also 2 years old and completely unrelated to caption. 🙃

I’ve spent the last week sort of trying sort the house out , sort of started packing. It’s all so messy.
Yesterday I left my shoes in the garden and a fox ate my favourite green Birkenstocks .
Basically it’s a bit chaotic over here.

I’m just remembering when I used to take calm, styled photos in a tidy house.

We’ve been home a week and today I finally finished unpacking. Two more weeks and I can start packing again.

Just googled can I grow Jasmine at our new house 🙃- short answer seems to be not really. It would do ok in a green house or on a really sunny wall but it would never grow in the abundance it does down here.

We are in southern Italy and we had a lovely day wandering around the Trulli houses yesterday. It looks lovely and smells devine. 🌸☀️

It’s been a relaxing week of being by the pool , trips to the beach and cave.
Last day today so hopefully back to the beach. 😎

And we are off on holiday….Im packed and ready to go, and then I re packed and packed again. We had a last minute dash for fit to fly PCR for the boys and the house is spotless ready for the house sitter. - phew , going on holiday is stressful.

I looking forward to having a proper space to do this - at our new house I’ll a floristry studio/workshop space. It will be nice to work without the dog running off with bits of foliage and without covering the kitchen in leaves. I can’t wait. 😀

Our house is up for sale and we have an open day tomorrow. - Lots of people coming to come and have a nose around and hopefully make an offer. 🤞
Here’s a question for any of you who have recently sold up. How much do you tidy up and “stage” your house for an open day? I’ve hoovered and decluttered the boys room ( there were lots of bits of nonsense plastic toys all over the floor) . Rich may mow the lawn later. Is that enough? Do others do more.
I don’t intend to do more but was just wondering. 🙃
