🥁 Pride is a Protest! And you can join our March on the 27 July

We'll be meeting at Highbridge Station at 10am ready for a 10.30 start. This is a perfect opportunity to travel by Train if you are coming from out of the area Severnside Community Rail Partnership

We'll be escorted by our friends over at Highbridge & Burnham-on-Sea Carnival for the second year. They will be making sure we stick to the official route and follow the Green Cross Code. Traffic won't stop for the majority of the route, but we do have contingency plans by St Andrew's Church, Burnham-on-Sea should we need to get you all across safely.

Here are our pick up points for this year:

Highbridge Station - Meet at 10am for a 10.30am depart
Apex carpark - Meet at 11am for a 11.10am depart
Esplanade by the Jetty - 11.25am for a 11.35

You can see this accessible video to see the route, the pick up points and areas that might be a little challenging. Don't forget you can book a mobility scooter and a number of different local shops if you need a little hand.

Aida H Dee is a multi-award winning ADHD, neurodivergent, q***r hero of literature, theatre, and children's entertainment. They are a patron of Autistic Inclusive Meets London, a professional author, a five star Edinburgh Fringe act, has been featured on Forbes Magazine for being an activist for neurodivergence, Winner of the Outstanding Contributors to LGBT+ Life 2023 award by the LGBT Brit Awards, chosen by PinkNews as The Local Leader Of The Year in 2022 and has been nominated Top 3 LGBTQ Champions Of The Year 2023!

Best post will win a Merch bundle of a bucket hat, sunglasses, lanyard and whistle, pin, sticker and magnet. Post anytime before 5pm 26 July (Friday before Pride) and we'll announce the winner that evening so you can pick your prize up from the Merch Stall on the day!

You may have noticed our posters and banners going up over the last few weeks. We've had an incredible team of volunteers out handing out posters in different places and to different businesses in the area, and we are grateful to all those businesses who have displayed a poster or two for us.

Last night, one of our banners was vandalised, cut away from the railings never to be seen again. People ask us why we still need Pride, and this just about sums it up. If people are that scared of a little sign with a few colourful words on you can only imagine the type of abuse members of the LGBTQIA+ community get on a daily basis, just for being the person they were always meant to be.

So why run a competition as a response to this hate? Because we would much rather flood social media with all the positive people in our towns than focus on one or two individuals. Hate breeds hate, so with your help, and your we can change the algorymth and show the people who really, really need Pride that we all stand as one, because we see you and together we will always be stronger.

We're pleased to say the sign has been replaced, and we are doing daliy checks to make sure our other signs stay in place. We will remain visable. The incident has been reported as a hate crime (only the Pride banner was vandalised, other event banners and posters remained in place).

📣 We cannot wait for these two amazing bands to perform at Pride-on-Sea on Saturday 27th July at Manor Gardens, Burnham-on-Sea. Let us introduce you to two of our incredible line up artists :

Whatever your taste, they are On the Case

This band are a four piece rock covers band with years of heritage and experience and include Dave on lead guitar, Richard on drums, Matt on bass guitar and Patrick on vocals.

Playing classic songs from the legends of music from the 60's to the 90's such as Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cream, the Animals and The Who, to ZZ Top, Billy Idol, Springsteen & Queen.

Spoke person for the band says "We are proud to play at Pride on Sea and look forward to kicking things off with some classic rock tunes where we will be sure to get the audience up and dancing in no time!!"

Last year we were so lucky to have the most awesome perform on stage, he will performing his blend of agricultiural hip hop for your pasty delights once again.

Big it up for Corky

The world's leading exponent of agricultural hip-hop for the past ten years, Corky can mix up genres with a bit of Scrumpy & Western rap too.
Acoustic rapping about skittles, the West Country, second homes, the price of milk and red diesel, he's supported everyone from Goldie Lookin' Chain to Creed Bratton, and is the regular support act for The Wurzels. He plays festivals, steam fayres and agricultural shows in the summer, and skittles finals and wassails in the winter.

We know that it takes all sorts to build a diverse community, and we are amazingly proud of our towns for the warmth, acceptance and inclusivity from all different areas. This really is a community grassroots Pride, and we really couldn't do this without all of the support and initiative from others to put on a range of different events in the run up to Pride-on-Sea

📣 We may not have held our Hustings, but we did put a selection of your questions to all candidates! Five have responded so far, and here are the answers they gave.

🤔 We thought long and hard about what order to put these in, so we are displaying them in the order we received a response, that way if any of the other candidates would like to contribute, we can add them easily. All answers are a direct and complete copy and paste from the responses we received.

👀 We are monitoring this thread, please keep any comments respectful and in response to the answers provided. We are interested in debating the issues important to our community, any other unrelated discussion further ignores and drowns out our already marginalised voice. We’re not interested in being put in the middle of disagreements between parties or their supporters, and we won’t tolerate it here. Don’t be that person…..
