Run by local artist Janice Page, where a warm and friendly atmosphere greets all guests, this newly converted carriage-house is spacious, centrally heated, double glazed, and fitted with all mod-cons (flat-screen TV, etc). The barn can house couples, or small families. There is a large, spacious sitting room, kitchen, bathroom and a cozy log-burning stove. In the garden, you have access to a secluded lawn, with a pond teaming with fish, as well as a patio for barbeques (or just listening to the sound of the countryside). Inside, on the mezzanine first floor, you also have access to a 50mm telescope for a bit of country-sky star gazing. The barn enjoys east and west-facing views. It is fully furnished and is let on a self-catering basis. In the nearby village of Hartington (1.5miles away), there are two convenience stores, a post office, church and gift-shops, as well as various country pubs. In the village of Biggin (0.5 miles), there is the Waterloo pub, and a post office. This area of the White Peak is full of opportunities for cycling, walking, bird watching, fishing (with permits) caving, and exploring local archaeology (Arbor Low, Wolfscote Low, Pea Low, etc) – all of which are easily accessible, by foot, bike or car. The nearest town is Ashbourne to the south (9 miles) or Buxton to the north (11 miles).
