After a very busy 3 years, I am delighted and proud to say I have finished my degree and am now a registered midwife! You will be seeing more cake photos from me now, as I have more time to bake now that I’m qualified. Today’s cake was a joy to bake - lemon, blueberry and white chocolate, with strawberries and pomegranate. This photo was taken on my son’s amazing new camera, and he’s desperate to show me how to use it properly. That’ll be a project for half term!

Lots of birthdays in December. This special one was celebrated with a super lemony cake, decorated with fruit and herbs. Sadly the nasturtiums in the garden got frozen by the snow, but I did still have a few beautiful flowers from to add the finishing touches to the cake. Cherry season 🍒 - one of the highlights of early summer in our house. Bought (and devoured) by the kilo!! Sold in big cardboard trays, rather than those ridiculously small plastic punnets.

These cherries escaped the clutches of my children and look so beautiful on this chocolate cherry birthday cake.

Vanilla wedding cake. 4 layers of Victoria sponge, sandwiched together with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream. All natural decorations - fresh fruit, raspberry powder, pistachio powder and leaves from the garden. The leaves on our blueberry plants have turned amazing shades of red, and apparently are even higher in antioxidants than the fruit (sadly, just not as tasty 😅). A beautiful cake for a beautiful couple 😍

Seriously chocolatey 18th birthday cake. Chocolate ganache buttercream, raspberry jam and 4 layers of super moist chocolate cake. My children enjoyed the trimmings immensely - poor deprived things, only get cake trials, experiments and trimmings with leftover icing 🤣 Usual conversation... Boys: ‘wow, that looks amazing!!! Is it for us?’ Me: ‘hmm... no... are you 18?’ 🤣🤪
