I am still receiving a number of enquiries for my services with the ice cream van, so this is another gentle reminder that I am no longer trading as Poppy’s Vintage Ices and that the ice cream van has now been sold on to and been given a makeover by Rachel and Katie from Cardiff. Their new business Wicked Berry has now launched and they are offering real fruit infused soft serve as well as scooped ice cream at venues and locations in the Cardiff area.

Hello all 🍦Just a little reminder that Poppy’s Vintage Ices is no longer taking future bookings and that our fabulous ice cream van has now been sold on to lovely new owners. The last few weeks I have been receiving a surge of wedding and event enquiries, so my most recent posts must not be being seen, therefore I just wanted to remind all that I am sorry I will not be able to offer you my services from Autumn 2022 onwards.

When the new owners are up and running with their brilliant new ice cream business this Spring/Summer, I will share their details for you to contact with any upcoming event enquiries 💖🍦

My last ever photo of the ice cream van, taken yesterday evening all packed up with her accessories ready to be collected by her new owners today.

It’s been an absolute blast old girl 💖 Thank you for the wonderful memories and unforgettable moments we’ve shared over the last 7 years.

You will be amazing in your new venture and I’m excited to see how the next leg of your journey pans out. I will share information about this once she’s up and running in her new business. She is now based in the Cardiff area, so many enquiries I have received for wedding bookings next year may well be able to go ahead with the new owners.

After a wonderful 7 years of adventures together I have made the incredibly difficult decision to sell my beloved ice cream van. Family commitments and my other year round business expanding means there simply isn’t enough of me to dedicate the time I would like to my ever increasing ice cream bookings - I was inundated with so many enquiries this year that I couldn’t take on, and she has far more potential to be constantly booked up all spring/summer long (and even throughout the winter if the new owner chooses to go down the route of offering hot drinks and warm dessert options to accompany and complement the ice cream!)

We’ve had an absolute blast meeting a huge array of wonderful people and making fantastic memories along the way, and I look forward to seeing her continue to make lots of people happy in the future.

The ice cream van is perfect to work at a wide range of both private and public events, on on site at a regular pitch. It is a hard scoop van with a large 6 lid holdover freezer that freezes down fantastically every time. You plug the freezer in to charge, which once at temperature will last the day, so there is no need to run the engine or be plugged in while pitched up, giving you far more freedom as to where you can park up. There is the potential to add a soft serve machine if desired, though I have never had the call to do so, as the Brookes Wye Valley Dairy scooped ice creams and sorbets I have always offered have been very popular and very much enjoyed by all.

The sale of the van also includes a large selection of my props and decor, so will be ready to set up and impress your clients should you wish to keep the style and colour scheme she is currently sporting. I will be retaining the business name and logo as my own, so you will just need to replace the vinyl logo stickers with your own branding and she will be all set to go!
I am also happy to give you some tips and advice regarding running a mobile ice cream business and vintage vehicle from what I have discovered along the way, should you wish me to.

This afternoon we served ice cream at Sue & Nigel’s Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations at Llandenny Village Hall. The weather was so lovely they were able to hold the whole event outdoors, with their own bar set up, a hog roast as a meal, followed by ice cream for dessert.

Everyone remarked what a wonderful idea it was to have the ice cream van show up and bring something sweet and delicious to enjoy after their main course, and Sue said her best memory from the day is seeing the look on her granddaughters’ faces as they queued up to have whatever they wished for from the ice cream van. The chimes even made an appearance, much to the children’s (and the adults’!) delight.

Massive congratulations to you both for 50 years of marriage, on the very day your wedding was all that time ago. A real milestone and achievement! 🍾🥂🎉🍦💛

Absolute perfection yesterday; an outdoor ceremony in the sunshine, accompanied by the beautiful vocals of Jeris Music for the new Mr & Mrs Williams, at the wonderful St Tewdrics House.
It felt like we were at a destination wedding in Italy ☀️🍦
Ice cream and sorbet went down an absolute treat with the newlyweds and their guests following the ceremony to help refresh and cool down.

Another wonderful occasion that as always, is a privilege to be a small part of 💕

St Tewdrics House bathed in sunshine on Sunday, making the perfect backdrop for a wonderfully relaxed day of celebrations for newlyweds Mr & Mrs Munday following their stunning wedding the day before.

Last night 🤩

After an unbelievable scorcher of a day it was a delight to scoop ice cream for newlyweds Mr & Mrs Lloyd and their guests in the grounds of stunning Old Down Estate Weddings & Events

It felt like we were abroad with the most amazing golden hour, a gorgeous sunset and balmy temperatures all evening.

Most popular flavour by far was Banana & Toffee which is up there as one of my favourites too 👌🏼😋 🍌

And who else can say they had parrots at their wedding greeting everyone with a “hello”? 😍

Today’s set up in the glorious sunshine ☀️ 🍦

Thank you to each and every customer who came along to buy an ice cream from us today 💖 You very nearly wiped out our stock (and we brought a lot!) We met lots of new people, and also really enjoyed seeing some familiar faces we haven’t seen in such a long while, as well as some couples and their families whose weddings we have attended previously - honestly all you lovely people are the very best thing about this job 🤩

It was a fantastic family day out for the 999 emergency services event with a wide variety of stalls and entertainment on offer as well as all the wonderful service people who attended with their vehicles to show the public just how they work (and sound! Sirens galore! 🚨)

This ✨Sunday 7th August✨ we will be serving our delicious Brookes Wye Valley Dairy ice cream at the Caldicot Town Team “999 Emergency Services Day” event, 10am - 5pm at Caldicot Castle & Country Park, (which is vegetarian and naturally gluten free), as well as a selection of refreshing sorbets, but we will ALSO have a tasty range of DAIRY-FREE/VEGAN options on board too! 🥛 🚫 🌱

We will offer a choice of Vanilla, Raspberry and Chocolate vegan ice cream in a gluten & dairy free cone OR in a tub with a spoon, topped off with either an Oreo or a Biscoff biscuit 👌🏼🤤

I also purposely keep all nut based products off the van to accommodate those with nut allergies (though some products used may contain nuts due to their manufacturing process or environment) 🌰 🥜

There is something for everyone ✨🍦🍨🍧

This last couple of years we’ve been so busy with private bookings that we have only been able to attend one public event each season, and this year it’s the 999 Emergency Services Day at Caldicot Castle on Sunday 7th August 10am - 5pm.

Come along for a fantastic day out and get up close to all the emergency services vehicles and staff who do an incredible job day in day out to keep us all safe and well, and enjoy a tasty treat whilst you’re there!

We will have a fantastic range of flavours of luxury locally produced Brookes Wye Valley Dairy ice cream and sorbets on board, served up in premium waffle cones with a Cadbury flake, as well as dairy free/vegan options. Brookes ice cream is gluten free and there will also be tubs and spoons available if a cone doesn’t take your fancy.
