Face painting by irene Window art, mural artist and face painter. Craft workshops. Monmouthshire, South Wales I charge £40 for 1 hour, £55 for 1.5 hours or £70 for 2 hours.

I can paint 12-15 kids an hour depending on design. I can offer the popular designs from princess, superheroes to frozen and more. If you have a particular theme you would like me to stick to just let me know beforehand. Futher than Newport or Chepstow there is a travel cost of 30p a mile.

12 years ago a small group of new employees for a local soft play company were sent up to the Cheltenham branch for face paint training. There were 9 of us all squished into 2 cars. We had 2 weeks of training to open up the brand new soft play in Caldicot. From coffee barista training to checking in, food and of course Face painting.
I had never experienced face painting, it just wasn't really about much as kids in the 80's. Our trainer for the day was Sally-Ann Lynch so I offered to get face painted. Well from there, I was hooked!
I had no idea at the time how much that day meeting Sally would change my life. Before long I set up a face paint business, a few years on the soft play closed so I launched myself into going fully self employed.
12 years on and I am still here, loving every bit!
Quite early on I took up extra training with Sally at her house, I could see the value it could add to my business. I too have trained up Sarah who also set up her own business. We work together lots and it is so nice to work alongside an old friend. In this face paint business it is so important to have friends you can work with and trust and be there for you. Sally and Sarah have been there always.

In the 12 years my artwork and business has developed. I only hope that it continues for years to come, I truly would not want any other job. I just love it too much.

A boy was sat in my chair waiting for the mirror moment, turned the mirror to see a great big smile appear then the words "Fair play, that's pretty good!". I smiled and said thank you and he gave me the thumbs up.

Tell me you are a face painter, without telling me you are a face painter! I will go first, here we go......

Alice the dragon came to live with me for a make over! After lots of preparation, stripping the fabric off the sculpture, removing and paint stripping the glue dots I finally got down to the bare sculpture. Standing at 5ft 5in and a large wingspan and a tooth which caught my head at times I wished I was just that bit taller, ha. Alice the dragon woke from her deep hibernation in the garage and I am happy with the results. Alice flew the nest (well had a drive on top of a car!) and arrived home on Friday. I hope Alice will enjoy her new garden view!

I had always wanted a chance to paint a remembrance mural. In 2022 the gable end of a cottage became the perfect canvas for the mural. Incorporating a silhouette, sunset (going down of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them) and the poppies flower of remembrance. Painted in the June, quite a significant week for me being the anniversary of when I enlisted many years ago. Also important dates being the week of D day and the run upto the 40th Falklands anniversary. This mural I found quite emotional to do, but worth it, to pay my respects. #poppymural #muralartist #remembrancemural #iamaveteran

What a lovely few hours of sunshine this week painting the community garden mural for Togetherworks Caldicot Inspiration taken from the many wild flowers around the garden. So many lovely comments, people enjoy looking at the gardens as they pass by. The garden volunteers have worked so hard making the garden, harvesting the veg which in turn is used for the community freezer project. The groups using the hub this week were loving the progress of the mural. I hope it brings joy as much as I did painting it.

Our Story

Here at Irene’s Face Painting we have very high standards; we aim to provide a personal, professional and magical service. I wanted to take this opportunity to share my story with you so you can understand my journey and why I have such endless enthusiasm for face painting.

I fell in love with face painting in December 2012 when I had training at the play centre where I worked. I have always been a creative type having spent many years as a graphic designer in the printing industry. After having children I needed to take a change in jobs so the school agency work and soft play centre was just the thing I needed. However little did I know I was about to ignite my creative side again....all it took was a face paint kit and some brushes.

Jump forward a bit and I soon found myself being asked for party bookings and indeed found very little time for my soft play job. So I took the plunge and went self employed! That was 4 years ago and I have not looked back!

I have built up my team of face painters traveling across South Wales, Forest of Dean and Bristol. We regularly paint at sport events, celebrations, store openings and of course personal celebrations like weddings and birthdays. Indeed we paint all ages spreading our love of painting with a sparkle and a smile!
