Why not move Valentine's day to June? If I could, I would because then locally grown and scented roses are in bloom and at their best without costing the planet so much.

Not sure I can change the world today, so as a florist my top Valentines tips to show your loved ones that you care are:

1) give a plant that has perhaps a special meaning or that flowers in their favorite colour, then look forward to enjoying seeing it bloom and grow together

2) give an experience related to flowers -
Maybe a day out to a beautiful garden to look forward to or weekend away to see tulip fields or even a course to learn more about designing or growing your own flowers

3. Spend time together, it is truely priceless.

4. Suprise them with treat you know they will enjoy on the 13th and Say, " I dont need a special day to say I love you!

5. Buy flowers from local flower farms supporting small businesses and the article below gives some good tips which flowers to look out for and why....

Stop and smell the roses...

Flowers are so symbolic of life. Delicate, epheral, unique and beautiful all in their own way but all in honour of a life well lived.... They are represent the incredible beauty of life while we have them.

Thought I dont often create tribute flowers it is my ethos that my flowers are always highly personalised and have meaning. So although lily of the valley, HRH Queen of Elizabeth's favorite flower I understand, isnt in season at the moment, these tiny representative white phlox flowers, potato jasmine, gaura, a little acheilia, along with seasonal dahlias, scented delicate spray roses to name a few with sprigs of memory rosemary all where just cut fresh from a local English flower farm just for this occassion to create five tiny bunches for my family & I to bring to our local royal residence at Windsor Castle last night to pay our respects to the Queen for her life of service. They were purposely all white and as close to the circle of life wreath created at Balmoral as I could source locally, just tied natural cord, placed at the gates without any wrapping to be as kind to the earth as possible.

Hope HRH would have really liked them. We send our deepest condolences to every member of from my family to yours. Thank you for being such an inspiring leader to the world as well as a fellow lady that loved flowers and our beautiful planet.

I am really not sure where to begin in words but here is my tribute to an extradinarily beautiful lady who lived a most wonderful and inspirational life. My family and I send our deepest condolences to and join the world in honouring and remember HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

I love how she loved her family, her husband, her people, charities, flowers, her dogs and horses... I think weddings and big events were pretty special to her as well to say the least. I would have loved to have met her and created a bouquet for her. As each day passses and more people tell their stories of how and when their paths crossed and how special they were made to feel I am in just awe. I am so thankful my journey has brought me to live so much of my life with such an inspirational example of grace, devotion, leadership, intelligence and strength.

Where Flowers, Fashion & Friday collided!

Feel very blessed to visit this year's 'British Icons' themed Chelsea in Bloom!
Super exciting for me especially to see the installations as I got to join the Inwater Flowers team for a few days for prep of their outstanding Hacketts, Boodles and Sticks and Sushi fresh flower displays!

What does the husband of a florist do on Valentines Day when he certainty can not go and do the easy grab & go from the enemy, can he? Ask me to order them?

How about one better?

Planning ahead is key and simply asking what I would love was a wonderful treat!

I chose Hampshire British farm flowers and am completely in love with their poetic & beautiful scented seasonal flowers & greenery.

As my good friend and couture dressmaker would say they are as they should be 'very me'. So here is my Valentines floral signature. @ United Kingdom

When skys the limit, how dreamy would a naturally flowing floral aisle runner lined along the length instead of simple pew ends bunch. Can you imagine how magical and romantic to float down the aisle among a lined tall mix of country garden flowers mix of delphiniums and roses?

Do you need pedestals flower arrangments for your ceremony?

I think your wedding day is about you as a couple first & formost and as long as you are both there it will be perfect.

However, if you love flowers and want to elevate your the feel of this grand ocassion, a day that you will treasure the memories of all the details... even for initmate weddings, I would go for pedestals.

Why? Because small arrangements can take just as much of time for your florist to create and use a large number of stems anyway, so yes go bigger let the stems stand taller for grander more impactful designs allowing big blooms like these 'cafe latte' blush dahlias shine.

Plus there are so many ways these lovely arrangements can be repurposed for your reception.

Love the beauty of all of natures seasons but this winter day I am dreaming of big bright summery weddings. Are you?

Here is a pedestal design used for two ways with lush romantic lemon, garden peach & cream roses for couples who love flowers and want statement luxury flowers throughout their wedding day.

It is sometimes hard to imagine the scale and size of this type of designs so I created this one to discuss during consultations with the best artificial stems as a starting place. For a more a organic natural style for example, all that is needed is some added wispy tall flowers and touches of casading greenery. Either way the design and flowers will be bespoke to reflect your style.

When a wedding florist becomes a Christmas decorator with The Christmas Decorators SW London, here's my home... a rose filled family ornament filled fresh tree with a fern & forest fairy tree top explosion, an asymetrical recycled tree branch, baubled and artificial flower filled door arch with matching wreath all to coordinate with these glass baubles I have had for years waiting for the kids to be older... might have been last on the road to decorate but loved it!
