Maria Stadnicka is a Romano-British writer, journalist and PhD researcher at University of the West of England. She explores socio-cultural trauma, the ethics of poetry, semiotics and the metaphors of the social discourse.
She is winner of twelve Romanian National Prizes for poetry and her work is published by Beats Literary Journal (Canada), Dissident Voice (US) International Times (UK), Ofi Press (Mexico), Social Alternatives (Australia), TEXT (Australia), The Journal(Wales), The Moth (Ireland), Shearsman (England), Tears in the Fence, The Poets’ Republic (Scotland).
She recently performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Pembroke College Oxford University, Tears in the Fence Poetry Festival, Cheltenham Literary Festival, Plymouth Language Club.
She is the author of Short Story about War (2014), Imperfect (2017), The Unmoving (2018), Somnia (2019) and Bearings 2 (2019). Her latest poetry collection, Somnia, is considered ‘one of the best poetry books of 2019’ by writer and critic Ian Seed, winner of TLS prize in 2018.
Her forthcoming collections are: Uranium Bullets (2020, Cervena Barva, U.S.) and Buried Gods Metal Prophets (2021, Guillemot Press, U.K.
