It will be down to YOU and your vote who wins the People’s Choice at the Welsh Street Food Awards at Tiger Yard this weekend. But choosing the Champion will be our judges – James Sommerin and Kacie Morgan. James has won two Michelin stars in his career – one at The Whitebrook - restaurant with rooms and another at Home By James Sommerin – and Kacie is the respected food critic and travel blogger The Rare Welsh Bit - Food and Travel Blog. They will be joined by the award-winning food writer, and founder of the Awards, Richard Johnson. Both Welsh winners will go to London for the grand finals of the British Street Food Awards and, maybe, the grand finals of the European Street Food Awards in Germany.

The Awards - hosted this year by Tiger Yard - are part of the biggest street food competition in the world. The Welsh just get street food. Cafe Mor, the seaweed foragers from Pembrokeshire now called The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company, won the British Street Food Awards back in 2012 and earned the right to trade in the Olympic village. And the 2021 People’s Choice, Janet's Authentic Northern Chinese Restaurant, went all the way from Pontypridd to become British Champion. But what of 2023?

From thousands of entries to compete this year we’ve whittled it down to the very best. You just have to vote for your favourite. Choose from the street food classics of Ringo's Dirty Diner, the fresh Italian vibes of Pasta Al Sugo, the boss burritos of Cosmo's Mexicana, the top-secret menu dishes from Keralan Karavan, the cakes and bakes from Days bakes & coffee co, the vada pavs and momos from Tiffin meal or the top tortillas from El Ca**on Tacos. Over to you…
