Its been a good year for weddings at the hall.
This beautiful wedding was just a couple of weekends ago.

I absolutely love how the table runners match the paint work and curtains in the hall!

With the little fairy lights spreading across the ceiling I bet it looked picture perfect in the evening.

Thanks for sharing with us, we hope you had a lovely day full of fabulous memories 🤍💫

The village hall was proud to hold the Castle Acre Horticultural Society Annual Show and to celebrate their 40th anniversary with them👏 🎉 on a very hot and sunny September afternoon.

I was lucky enough to find this old picture of one of the past shows to put beside yesterday's event.

Any idea of a date or who the gentlemen are in it would be much appreciated.

The lovely Jenna had her summer wedding with us at the beginning of August.
She kindly shared this picture of her special day to add to our weddings album.
Altho we have tables and chairs to use many people choose to hire in their own as Jenna has here.
I'm sure you'll agree how they complement the dark wood in the huge vaulted ceiling and stand out lovely on the lighter original floorboards.

Thanks for using us Jenna, it's looks beautiful and we hope you had a fabulous day ✨️

Big clean at the hall this evening.
Cut and strimmed the grass.
Swept the patio and steps.
Swept down the road and pushed the gravel back into the carpark.

Finally we used a brush to sweep a lot of cobwebs off the wall and clean around the huge windows.......and when I say it was a long brush, I'm not kidding!

We think our new sign looks picture perfect with the castle in the background.
Rosebay willow herb is growing in abundance around there at the moment. It's beautiful pink flowers swaying in the breeze.

Did you know, its also known as fireweed or Londons ruin because not only did it bloom in the city of London soon after the great fire, but also it was the first flower to bloom on the bomb sites of London too.

Well isn't this just a beautiful site.

Lovely view looking over to the village hall from the top of the castle, taken by a villager this afternoon.
You can see from this picture that you get full use of the fenced off patio and lawn whenever you hire the hall. Lovely little sun trap.

Great position for our recently fitted solar panels to be doing their job too 🌞

Who remembers youth club at the village hall?
Was you a member, did you help run it?
Memories and pictures are more than appreciated.

**taken from a local newspaper at the time**

In the schoolroom boys from the youth club renewed the floorboards while the girls painted chairs.
Workmen put in new ceilings and windows, but the members have undertaken to repair, renovate and decorate their room themselves.
After removing the rostrum and a large stove they have scraped, washed and coloured the walls finishing them with a green surround and ornamented with a stipple design on a cream background.
Furniture is in short supply and efforts are being made to fundraise for further supplies.
Two members Guy Overman and Royal Eggleton are making a table tennis table at their school woodwork class to add to the club notice board and glass they have made already.

The sun shone this afternoon and it was fantastic to see so many people turn up to play a part in history to see the new village sign unveiled.
Jim Huges did a speech thanking Ronnie colman for carving the new sign and his daughter in law Jo Colman for painting it, before pulling the cover off.

I think everyone must agree how beautiful it is and how lucky we are that this will greet people to our lovely village for many years to come.

Once again, thank you Ronnie & Jo for making the sign and castle acre parish council for all your work in completing it. 👏 👏

After the baptist Chapel the hall was owned jointly by the woman's institute & another group....any guesses who they might have been? I'll post the correct answer at the end of the week.

The pitch pine pews were removed from the body of the building and it was hoped to put some around the edges of the room once the sloping floor was levelled and interior decoration complete. The ladies helped to fell and trim trees on one side to allow light into the hall and to increase the space outside.

So what work was happening at the other end and who was it?

Gorgeous chloe had her reception at the village hall in April this year.
The weather was better than it is currently and she had some lovely pictures taken with the castle in the background from standing just outside the hall.

However we are sharing her internal pictures to show off that beautiful vaulted ceiling, that you don't get in just any village hall. It helps if it's an old church! The lights look super spread across the room and the evening shot looks amazing.

And note that the moveable bar can be positioned anywhere to suit your needs.

Thanks for sharing with us chloe ❤️

Please share any pictures you may have to be added.

Don't hesitate to get in touch for a viewing if we can assist you in anyway, to show you around our beautiful old baptist Chapel.

We have a fully fitted kitchen.
Recently redecorated throughout.
Newly fitted air conditioning.
Three sets of toilets including disabled and baby changing.
Chairs and tables.
Original wooden floors.
Large original Chapel windows.
A stage.
Moveable bar.
Private Fenced off patio and lawn.
Two gravel car parks at either end of the hall.

The hall will be clean and ready for your arrival, and all yours for the time you book.

And if that's not enough this beautiful property is looking over at the castle ruins, for those perfect photo opportunities.

**please note all decoration is down to the hirers.

When you think of the village hall what vision do you have?
The doors we use as the main doors which was infact cottages at one time, or the entrance off the newly refurbished gravel carpark that would have been the entrance to the baptist Chapel.

I tend to think of the main doors we all use which is a bit of a shame really as the main beauty is the end of the chapel, which sadly gets over looked in the shade of the trees. The brick work and windows are amazing if you stop to take a good look.

We'd really appreciate any old pictures you may have of the hall, inside and out. Parties, weddings, preschool.....youth club!
Let's celebrate this old building and show our appreciation for something that sometimes gets forgotten about in the history of the village.

Castle acre village hall started life as castleacre baptist church. The foundation stone was laid on Wednesday 18th May 1872, making this fabulous building 152 years old.

Mr R Vynne laid the stone in front of a large number of people from surrounding villages and towns.
There was singing and prayers before friends were invited to lay contributions on the stone and £130 was raised.

The stone was laid, a hymn was sung and a speech was delivered by Rev W Freeman. The friends then spent the afternoon exploring the ruins of the priory and the castle mound. They was served tea in a barn lent by the Rev J H Bloom to which 400 people sat down.
Afterwards a public meeting took place, closing with a prayer at 8.30pm.

Castle Acre Village Hall has solar panels! Installed with funding assistance from Norfolk County Council Infrastructure Fund and Jubilee Platinum Fund. Grateful thanks to both grant funders. With solar panels the hall hopes to keep down future electricity bills, keeping hiring rates as low as possible for all hirers. All we need is lots of sunshine!
