Thursday saw us returning to Harewood Forest for number 2 outta 3 of our big week in Hampshire. Becky and Louis’ guests enjoyed earl grey brined BBQ chicken, Lavs’ festival style porchetta and some delicious salads -

Crispy roast potatoes with oregano and green olives.
Charred corn fattoush with confit garlic pitta.
Harissa roasted butternut squash, whipped feta, rocket & drizzled garlic.

Last pic is the veggie option of bbq marinaded aub, caramelised onions and butters with a tommy salsa thing.

Dreamy! We’re in the full swing of things over here so please forgive us if emails take a while to get to - Monday is admin day I promise x

And saying that we are already thinking about autumn and winter fun - some excellent things in the pipeline but get in touch if you wanna eat some yummy food. It’s what we do.

Dreamy setting in harewood forest yesterday for Jo & Joe’s big day. Sharing starters followed by porchetta, crispy tatties and homemade mayo, coupla salads including amazing leaves and their baby summer leeks we BBQ’d into smoky velvety deliciousness.
Mint julep peaches with smashed up meringues and whipped cream to finish.

We don’t do it for weddings of ~80, and it is a hell of a lotta washing up, but using our vintage mismatched china makes everything look so beautiful! Who needs a table runner when you’ve got 19th century Imari plates. It also gives Lavs a very good excuse to continue hoarding and buying the 100s of bits of china we’ve got ✌️ if you want pretty plates, give us a shout. Xo

Just a few nice veg pics from last nights tasting… another fully veggie wedding we’ve got planned with Harry and Adam in October. We love catering fully veggie or vegan events! It’s so much fun making veg the centre of attention and making even the most reluctant carnivores admit that yes, lentils can be sexy! Our fave was the chargrilled aub with a super rich tahini sauce and a sumac onion & herb salad 💥

Shaved fennel, crispy capers, selection of beeeautiful seasonal bitter leaves, burrata and segmented blood orange. Chuck a sprinkle of salt, slosh of evoo and a spritz of amalfi lemon on (amazing at the moment) and you’re good to go. Classy and sexy, we think your gals, pals and loves will love it 💕

It’s quiet time for us over here at SK HQ but the perfect moment to give a shout out to the joy of using seasonal produce. We like many others, know all too much about the darkness that winter can bring but in a very silly way, being able to look forward to making marmalade, the rhubarb arriving or the snowdrops and crocuses popping up can really make the cycle feel a bit better. Nature gives us all these bright colour when we need them most, how cool is that?!

Not only does using seasonal ingredients bring more joy, it’s kinder on the planet as you don’t have to fly things halfway across the world unnecessarily (looking at you, Peruvian asparagus) and what’s more, it tastes better!! Anyone who’s been to one of our tastings will have heard us lamenting about buying out of season produce for a summer wedding tasting, and expounding that things really do taste better when they’re from our lovely local suppliers.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of catering a delightful 90th birthday Sunday lunch. Old lady friendly canapés (mushroom vol au vents are back btw), rhubarb and frangipane tart and a couple of classic French apple tarts. There was also reverse seared côte de boeuf, some very very yummy jammy roast potatoes and jerusalem artichokes, and some parmesan & pine nut crispy kale.✌️

Friday night’s wedding tasting bits at the back there with pintxos inspired nibbles for an august grazing table and a couple of very summery salads to accompany ’s sausages😍

Probably about time we properly introduced ourselves! Sunflower Kitchen is run by Phoebe and Lavinia, crack team of generation spanning, cremant drinking, “wow this is so delicious you’re so clever”-ing, dungaree wearing, overzealously swearing, greedy lady chefs.

Here’s some appropriately silly photos of us taken by last year and the much much more important info that we have space in JUNE 2024. The most gorgeous, light and predictably nice weathered month, we got loadsa availability. Get at us. The rest of summer 2024 looking pretttttty busy but always worth giving us a shout if you’ve got party plans. We like parties. 🌻

Merry Christmas gorgeous ones! Some questionable “we’re all in a rush” pics from Demelza & James’ lovely day last week. A full gluten free menu for Demelza’s family to be at ease that they could eat everything! Butcher’s black gammon, celariac remoulade and crispy capers on gf toast, obvs mushroom arancini and pesto mayo, seasonal salads to go with a really great spiced chicken dish, and marsala poached pears & hazelnut pavs. Seasonal but not Christmassy and a total joy! These guys completely transformed a village hall with beautiful drapery, such a good idea.

Wishing you all peace and happiness and hopefully some time off! We’re straight back next week with the biggest and last wedding of the year. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just a sample of last night’s Palestinian inspired menu for a fundraiser for ’s Gaza appeal. The yog roasted cauli was topped with a dill, green chilli and garlic sauce - the three big flavours of Gazan cooking. Labneh topped with Palestinian za’atar (so good) and evoo, mutabal, pita, pickles, tabbouleh, musaka’a and a spiced warming sticky toffee full of beautiful medjool dates. Raised some money, had a lovely time, hopefully all remembered how lucky we are to be able to hold our loved ones close. also a pretty good bet for trying to make a tiny difference if you fancy giving some pennies xx

We couldn’t get over these king oyster mushrooms from .fungi we served at a tasting on Sunday! Seared with a bit of paprika, garlic and shallot and served on a bed of the smokiest baba ganoush, it’s gonna be a killer part of a sharing starter spread for Joe and Shelby next July! trying to steal the show as usual ⭐️

Would you believe we made 230 people dinner judging by these photos? Our last big weekend in September was a magnificent double header where we worked so hard and cooked so much we didn’t take any photos at all! I’ll just have to assure you the food looked beautiful and was very delicious and you’ll just have to take my word for it.

Massive thank you to Dan & Scarlett and Lizzie & Ned for having us be a part of their big day, and thank you to all our gorgeous clients! We feel very lucky to get to work with such lovely people where it often just feels like making friends, not work. It’s a joy to create feasts for you all 🌻

The thing about being people who serve pavlovas in fields is that the ones that look perfect on insta aren’t the yummy ones. Once you’ve transported 15 meringues along with a tonne of other stuff across the countryside, if they’re the good ones with the light crispy outside and a soft mallowy middle, they might look a bit like this ✌️bloody delicious though. Rose, raspberry & pistachio pav always bangs!

Some of us remembered to take photos this week! Hooray!

A drizzly but beautiful day in Monmouth for Alice and Tom in a little hidden valley with its own deer and wild boar (who luckily didn’t come and join the party). Cosy tipis, venison sausages and blackberry sauce, and this seasonal & colourful menu. Our gorgeous smiley team as usual getting 10/10 reviews and we even managed to make their cheese cake look fabulous. Now, everyone cross their fingers for sunshine for our last double header weekend of the season xo

Just got these beaut pics through from Tash & Pat’s Bash in July! The cauli salad was obviously the star of the show but check what the end of the evening looked like 😍 Penny Square Barn in Batcombe is only a mile up the lanes from our kitchen and we had a fab time catering there for these two.

A record breaking 160 guests yesterday to round off the busiest August Ever. A beautiful day for Faith & Elliot at the lovely in Devon, even the sun came out for some of it ! Sharing starters of merguez & harissa, beetroot hummus (colour on that!!), smoky smoky baba ganoush, pea feta & mint, halloumi with thyme honey and flatbreads and crudités. Then lemon and zataar chicken with the most sunshiney, colourful salads going.

The gals were also slinging burgers at to make it a ludicrously busy weekend! And now, for a week off. Peace out x

Another Saturday, another wedding, another day I completely forget to take any good photos at all. So here’s our Frank looking angelic, team briefing, Lavs on the crostini, and Gabriel on the aubergine. Antonia & Greg’s was a bloody good party though! Completely veggie menu pleasing even the staunchest of carnivores I heard. Beautiful day in beautiful Oxfordshire, finished off with everyone stuffing their faces with macaroni cheese ⭐️🌻

Aaaaand wedding number two on Saturday! Really fab if slightly windy day at penny square barn for Tash and Pat. Dips and sticks, onion bhajis and mushroom arancini followed by shawarma spiced lamb, cauli salad, harissa roasted beetroots & carrots, leaves and sumac yoghurt. I wanted to write that people trampled over each other to get their hands on these chocolate mousse, but in reality they chatted in an orderly queue. Just as good. Afternoon tea yesterday following a (if I do say so myself) fab buffet lunch. Accompanying aforementioned mousse (mousses? meesse?) was -

Classic French apple tarts, lemon, honey & mascarpone viccy sponge, a rhubarb, rosemary & marmalade number and a couple of vegan gluten free ginger & apple cakes. Only a tiny scrap left for the kitchen gals! And the rain held off until pack down!
