Bridal Bouquet
Selina wanted a small posy with a wispy natural feel. Using grasses and delicate flowers from our flower field. Fresh Lavender added a calming fragrance and triggered happy childhood memories. 💚
A quick trip north yesterday for a hortic fix at the Autumn Harrogate Flower Show at Newby Hall. Check out the fabulous Dahlia blooms 😍
Maybe the next mission for Steven ??? 😀
making an entrance
Making an entrance for Selina & Dylan's special day.
The brief more foliage than flowers to create a wild ,natural feel.
Colour palette .... muted in whites, greens, and blues.
Using our field of dreams materials, sustainable mechanics ..,less than 3 miles to travel ...a pure dream 💚
Rustic wedding decor
It's always a pleasure to flower a wedding and I loved creating these milk churn entrance designs at this beautiful venue.
Arranged in tall zinc buckets with chicken wire as the mechanic and placed into the churn.
Congratulations to Emma & Richard married at the weekend 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Multi-Span Polytunnels
It's easy to forget as the weeks fly by ....the missions accomplished !
Building extra undercover for our flowers was priority this season after the incredibly challenging autumn ,winter ,spring just past. There is no denying that trying to build this Multi-Span Polytunnel was a huge challenge not only because we have limited manpower but because from March -August are heads are fully immersed in growing ,harvesting, floristry, gardening and Group Visits. We are certainly not complaining but after months of early dawn starts and finishing as darkness sets we are all a little tired.
As the wheels begin to slow ,we are making plans for a very exciting new season next year. The field will see a complete makeover as we are re- designing the layout making planting and harvesting more efficient. We are super excited to have more undercover space to extend our season.
This season has taught us so much and it is true ...it does take three years of any business to establish the future.
Even after 30 years in the horticultural industry we are learning the art of flower farming everyday.💚
Why does the wind always get up when your skinning a polytunnel? 😂

Sustainable flowers for a 100th Birthday.
There's nothing better when an order comes in that gives you an opportunity to create in your choice. This arrangement travelled quite away to celebrate a 100th birthday. Standing out from the crowd with an array of nature's treasures.🌱
Eakring Church
Celebrating life through flowers in the lovely Eakring Church.💚
J&J Moon gate
A little of behind the scenes of creating this floral moon gate for Jess & Jack last week. In true farmer style a cattle feeder ring was used for the structure. There is always a few miss haps along the way but it as ever it turns out good in the end.
The wind on set up was a factor and so I decided to finish this on the morning of the wedding to make sure it stayed super fresh.
As a guest myself in true florist style I did my nails in church 🤣
Jess & Jack
Flowering weddings is a small part of our business that has a big impact on the look ,feel and atmosphere of such an important day. It was our pleasure to be part of Jessica Cooper and Jacks special day.
Knowing Jess since she was born made it all the more special and it was wonderful to celebrate the day with family and friends.
With a little extra help from our Sam and his girlfriend Megan and of course Steven it all came together in true farmer style.💚
We had an amazing time flowering and celebrating with family and friends .
Jessica and Jack 💚🎉😍
Jessica & Jack 10.8.24
It's been a fabulous marathon of farmer style flowers for Jessica & Jack.
It's been an absolute pleasure to be part of their super special day. We have known Jessica since the day she was born it was wonderful to see her and Jack so happy yesterday.
We certainly celebrated !
August harvesting
August harvesting .....Steven and I picked over 2 thousand stems yesterday ready for collection today.
There isn't much room for shoppers in my workshop at the moment but these will all be gone to pastures new by the time our visitors today make it in here👍🌻
Bloom Chrysanths
Steven has been trying for 20 years to master the art of growing Chrysanthemum blooms . Every year he grows the cuttings to a good height and they end up as spray Chrysanths not the large single bloom intended.
Will 2024 be the year that he finally succeeds ?
Explained in the video the crucial task of dis- budding.
August begins
No two days are ever the same here at FM ...and that's how we like it 💚
Yesterday began with a delivery to our local farm shop and some collections from our amazing florists that keep us picking . Our visitors from the lovely Shipley WI arrived for the day. Wonderful ladies full of chatter and cheer.
Then it was back out for more harvesting as the flowers flew out at Maxeys Farm Shop & Kitchen .
However busy days may seem there is no better place to be ,especially when there's a glorious summer sunset. 🌿💚🌻💥
sempervivums
Sprucing up the succulents!
Sempervivums are hardy little succulents that produce flowers that pollinators adore.
However once the flower has finished the plant then dies! This can look unsightly and spoil the effect of a display.
By removing the dead rosettes and adding a few Sedums into this bed it now has a fresh look again .
Sempervivums also known as houseleeks as they were often grown on roof tops are very hardy. Although monocarpic they produce many offsets/ pups to continue the line and forever live on .✅
July harvesting
So far a week of harvesting for drying , picking orders , deadheading , weeding and watering. The most perfect weather at the moment for collecting in the flowers for drying. We love to use our crops in the wintertime for creative projects. This week's picks include Helichrysum (strawflower),Statice ,Eryngium , and of course the lovely Sea Lavender. All hung in an airy space out of direct sunlight.✅
July Harvest
The bounty begins !
It's amazing what a difference some sunshine can make .Hopefully harvesting will be a little easier now with longer stems and more flowers.
Harvesting a field full of flowers really is the best feeling 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
This week we had our very first cut and arrange workshop. An opportunity to select beautiful flowers from our cutting field and then learn how to arrange them. We used small cereal bowls with chicken wire as a mechanic. We chatted about conditioning and appreciated each stem as it was carefully arranged.
The brief was to make a table centre arrangement to be enjoyed in or outdoors.
Amazing outcomes from first time flower arrangers 🌻🌿💚
