📣 The Website is ready … and we took the front cover of The City Times this month 📣

Many of you have recently been enquiring as to my whereabouts as I have been in the coffee shop a lot less in person. Well, I can assure you that lots has been going on behind the scenes as I begin to look at the wider picture. How I can enhance the community provisions we already have though my core vision of “community cohesion through collaboration”

As such, one of many developments is now ready to share. And I’m delighted to finally bring you our new website. It’s been a journey for sure. One which would not have been possible without Aaron (my hero) at Pixel Systems for all his patience during the creation and ex*****on phase. Thank you so much. My chaotic brain can be hard to manage when it comes to creativity. And he has the patience of a saint.

I’m also grateful to Fiona Mai at Photography by Bromsgrove for taking and creating some really professional photos as part of the project. A star for sure whom I highly recommend.

And - Yes….. although it’s done, it’s never really done, so Aaron already has an extended list from me consisting of a bookings system and newsletter as well as starting to work on Cheerful Chais website too.

So may I once again welcome you all to your community hub - Angel Pavilion.

Meet and Greet Event for Chelmsford, Essex and surrounding areas.

I feel privileged to have the role of volunteer Essex regional lead for the “Out and Wild” festival. The UKs largest festival for le***an, bisexuals, trans, q***r women, and non-binary folk!
 
Along with a fellow lead, I will be hosting a free drop-in session (meetup) to answer any questions about this year’s event whether you have been before or are planning/thinking about doing so for the first time this year. 
 
Taking place at Angel Pavilion (Home of Cheerful Chai coffee shop - which will be open too!) in Chelmsford. Its open to everyone within Essex and those in surrounding areas. 
 
There truly is loads to get involved in such as :
- wilderness based hikes, 
- swimming in the Estuary a short walk from the site which will be led by The Bluetits (national open water swimming group)
- gong baths
- silent (and noisy) discos
- spoken word as well as readers and writers sessions
And so much more. There is something for everyone to engage with. Why not combine signing up for something new as well as taking time to re-ignite a long lost passion in this safe, inclusive and fun space. I can’t wait!! 
 
Such a wonderful opportunity, to meet like-minded individuals along the way and return home feeling empowered. 
 
There will also be a selection of sessions curated for the Global Majority community as well this summer and prayer space is also available on site. 
 
The views alone are breath-taking. Well-being truly at its finest! 
 
And the best part is the value for money given so much can be enjoyed within the price of your ticket. 
 
So…. come along with your questions or to simply meet others and myself if you are going alone. At least you will have a friendly face that you recognise on arrival.

There is a parish council meeting taking place tonight between 5.30-7pm during which the “barrier” and parking related concerns can be disputed by the public. I don’t tend to publicly (on social media) share much about the history of what has been going on since I purchased this building some years ago. It was the former clubhouse for Broomfield Football Club and so its become a part of our local history. My vision was to create a multi use space to bring people together and build a community in a way that no other space has yet done so. They (Broomfield Parish Council) wanted to ‘knock it down’ and ‘put a kick wall here’ as there ‘own building was not fully used’. Yet, minutes before I finally opened doors following COVID - they suddenly felt a need for a ‘third building on the field’. I have had constant grief and faced manipulation and bullying from my neighbours way beyond this example alone. There is no discrepancy in the fact that Broomfield Parish Council / Village Hall Charity Members (who really knows given the overlap of people between the two which means they are always passing the batons of responsibility to the other) have made life difficult since they were unable to secure the purchase of this building and I was.

Now - do we dwell on the past or find ways to move forwards? I have always been one for moving forwards, but equally - I wont be bullied into decisions either. I lost 6 years of business due to ‘not being given my legal access’ rights as well as other issues, that need to be compensated for appropriately.

In life, I have challenged numerous stereotypes and continue to work hard on creating community cohesion whilst breaking down barriers in peoples understanding of other belief systems and I have often felt sadness - but chosen to ignore a lot of persecution for who I am. Now I am done.

Let me make clear - at no point have I suggested the ‘parking’ outside the village hall is for Angel Pavilion users. They chose to open the barrier to allow everyone to use the space for the past year or so and track what sort of possible traffic issues may exist. I have not been informed of any. The one or two pinch points that I have observed took place when the football club had events on.

So - what now - do we all find a healthy, happy way to co-exist for the benefit of the community we serve or do we allow the parish/village hall staff to keep putting blocks in place that directly impact my business but also the lives of everyone we serve at the same time? This is no longer just my fight - this is about everyone. Our community, Broomfield and beyond. Go and ask questions - find out the problems - I assure you there are solutions but whatever I am proposed must be fair. I wont be attending tonight’s meeting due to health reasons, but I trust those that wish to know and share thoughts will be.

Lets see if ‘they’ have a reasonable solution which enables wheelchair users, mothers with pushchairs and park users to use the multiple spaces often unused during the day. And hence, support the health and wellbeing of the residents they serve and in doing so, proving that people are at the heart of decisions - or maybe thats not the case?

And if parking is an issue or limited - how has the allocation of spaces for caravan users been allowed? They also don’t use the village hall?

🎃👻💙Halloween Disco 💙👻🎃

Angel Pavilion (in collaboration with the lovely Nicole & Cheerful Chai) are pleased to announce our Halloween Disco, which is taking place on Thursday 26th October.

YES - ITS FANCY DRESS TIME 😍

90 minutes of pure fun with a DJ will playing monstrously good pop music. There will be disco lights, a spooky smoke machine and opportunity to buy goodies from the tuck shop. Each session will have its own games and lots of prizes will be awarded - including for the best costumes.

SESSION 1 : 5.00-6.30pm for 4 to 7 year olds. UPTO YEAR 2 AT SCHOOL

90 minutes of devilishly good fun to include all the above. An adult must accompany children. We will have the coffee shop open as a space that you may use during this time too. Refreshments will be available to purchase.

Cost £8 per child - includes a drink and biscuit.

SESSION 2 : 7-8.30pm for 7-11 year olds
YEAR 3-6 INCLUSIVE

90 minute disco with a DJ to include the above and also glow stocks and prizes galore. We recommend bringing a little pocket money for treats on the night too. Adults are welcome to stay in the cafe area or leave with our childcare trainers staff.

Cost £10 per child - includes a drink and biscuit.

Bookings commence from Tuesday 10th October
Come in to Cheerful Chai coffee shop to purchase. If you are unable to come in, then please email : events@angelpavilion with your child’s/children’s names, DOB, your name and best mobile contact number. We will endeavour to get payment links out where possible.

We are so proud to have been given the opportunity to provide our space as our contribution for this amazing one off event!

Tickets are on sale and so please get one quick!! Just £10 for an amazing night!

We are also selling the beautiful hope, love and brave bracelets for children and adults in our coffee shop () for £1. These have all been lovingly handmade by mum Amy whilst she spends hours in hospital by Ellis’ side.

Thanks to all the wonderful people working so so hard behind the scenes and those who are preparing and performing for free as well as the numerous contributions for prizes (amazing ones such as £150 voucher for Alec’s Restaurant! - I shall be visiting here myself at some point soon too 🙏) for the raffle taking place. Tickets for the raffle are also available to purchase in the coffee shop. £1 each or book of 5 for £4….

We are also not taking any staff tips and all spare change and other is welcomed as a contribution for this cause.

Hosting, presenting and conferences take me back to my good old days in educational leadership! I absolutely love it, so I’m planning to do more of my own events and support others looking to run them too. If you’re looking for a space that’s versatile and can be used in various ways : for a party, meeting, professional development day, wellness day or anything else that comes to mind - then this really is the community hub you need to be using. We are fortunate to have the lovely coffee shop available to us on site for use during opening hours and even for private hire or events such as baby showers, afternoon, tea parties or anything creative you want to propose to us!
