Our first farmers market pitch at Matching Tye!

Oh my goodness it was the coldest market yet!! We were bundled up in scarves, gloves, hats, second layer, third layer and hot cups of tea (replenished hourly by the lovely ladies from the pop up tea room!).

However we loved every second!

We had such a warm welcome from the regulars and there were so many people to introduce ourselves too. We look forward to seeing you next month! ✨✨

The last vid is showing me fork crimp every single creamy chicken, bacon and leek pie! It’s a labour of love and a rustic finish but I believe it creates the best even bake of our shortcrust pastry top!

During this period of downtime I can reflect on the video of me sitting in my car at 11pm in crazy busy July and chuckle to myself 😂

Even in the busy bits, I feel so lucky to do a job that brings me so much joy.

I’ve absolutely loved interacting with you all, you not only support but encourage, it’s a wonderful privilege to have.

The Christmas eve pop up shop!

It was a delight to cook for you all this Christmas!

Plenty of wellingtons, giant sausage rolls, cheesecakes and chocolate yule logs, but also a very full pop up shop! So much on the top including a big bountiful pile of golden yolk scotch eggs as well as some gorgeous gift boxes of some nostalgic petit fours; cinder toffee honeycomb, traditional English fudge and mars bar crispy cake squares - yum!

A lot of cooking - But so much joy!

I am so grateful to you all for giving Lilly’s kitchen so much support! Thank you so much!

A huge thank you also to our wonderful suppliers and the lovely people who came and helped me in the shop and the kitchen and shop! You are all just brilliant!

Thank you again and a Merry Christmas to you all. We are looking forward to next year already 💕🎄

Last weekends Christmas supper club!

The second year of cooking for this lovely Christmas supper club. We are talking tuxedos, ballgowns and some really fabulous wine… a beautiful way to end the private catering calendar for the year.

FROZEN CHRISTMAS!

What. a. week!!!

The busiest frozen Christmas yet! So many meals ordered and lovingly made from the Lilly’s Kitchen frozen Christmas collection!

The brief:
9 different frozen meals from Lilly’s Kitchen comfort classics, to dinner party main courses to desserts.

The reality:
Soooo many onions were chopped, white sauces whisked, ingredients sourced, labels written and printed and meals packaged.

Collection:
Collection from the Lilly’s Kitchen pop up shop, mulled apple in hand, order boxed ready to nestle into the freezer to pull out for unsuspecting guests. ‘When did you find the time…!’ Our secret is safe ⭐️

The shop was FULLY loaded with so many extra treats: slices of meringue wreath, mince pies, lemon bars, golden yolk scotch eggs, miso, choc and sesame cookies, tiramisu brownies, rhubarb and white chocolate blondies, boxes of shortbread, cheese, quiches, salads, sausage rolls and a bumper lot of spare frozen meals in the shop freezer!

The aftermath:
Feet are firmly up, lots of hobnobs, cups of tea and an immense feeling of gratefulness. Thank you so much.

The best kept secret in Essex!

Yesterday I catered for a surprise party for some lovely local clients. Keeping it under wraps was a job in itself!

We started with some delish canapés including some gooey cheese gougérés and golden scotch eggs

Then for main course some slow braised local Essex lamb in a tagine with Essex butternut squash and dried apricots, couscous, herb yoghurt and fresh pomegranate.

The other choice of main course was local Essex chicken thighs in a creamy smoked bacon, fennel and mushroom friccasse sauce with buttery mash and bright veg.

Then oodles of cheese and homemade desserts from the clients friends and family.

A wonderful day! And ohhh so Essex!

Reflecting on the Xmas farmers market … 🎄⭐️🍾

Last Saturday was glorious! Our busiest market EVER!!

We had so many festive treats! Some of which were teasers for the Lilly’s Kitchen Christmas Eve menu which is OUT NOW!!

I always feel so excited about cooking festive treats for Christmas. Whether it’s sifting icing sugar to depict sugary snowfall on the mince pies or swirling the chocolate ganache into a bark pattern on the Yule log There’s certainly something magical about it!

Last weekends pop up shop!

It was suuuuper busy! I had predicted that a few more people than usual due to the children’s holidays but a queue round the corner!?!

We had gooey scotch eggs, sage and caramelised onion chutney sausage rolls, bright green goddess salad, the kale and sweet potato feta salad, sweet treats galore including a last minute batch of brownies that were brought out after the first hour of madness! So many frozen meals, a freezer full to the brim of homemade high quality meals! Amazing cheeses and a great stock of preordered - fresh as possible - fish from Billingsgate!

Most of all, so wonderful to see you all and welcome you back in to the shop! Almost nostalgic at the point 😂 (for those new to unfamiliar, back during Covid I opened my shop every weekend!).

I am very grateful and please know that I get so much joy out of cooking for you all ⭐️🥰

You really do all come rain or shine!

I was admittedly a little nervous last week, the weather reports were far from cheerful. Although we arrived in rain, the sun did come and most importantly - so did all of you!

Thank you to everyone who came and supported our stall. is a really fantastic, bustling farmers market to be a part of. I get so much joy from creating the menus, cooking the frozen meals and cooking and baking the on-the-top goods!

However most of all, I love to see you all! To meet new people, catch up with my regulars and meet those who watch my instagram or see my posts and come to say hi!

I am so looking forward to the next and final market of the year on Saturday the 9th of November! It is my favourite as it’s the XMAS special and I am a HUGE fan of all things Christmassy! Best believe the stall will be stocked and loaded of Christmas inspired yumminess!!!
