I am grateful to be living in today's world 🌎. A world where you can learn anything within a few minutes, if you want to.

We have knowledge, wisdom, and insight that others have spent a lifetime trying to figure out 🤔, readily available to us.

From rise till bedtime, did not even get to Zero 🥸.

Apparently, in some places, it was/is -15 (I suppose I should be grateful for the 'summer' 🤪 I am enjoying then)

I am already having 'cold feet" (and fingers) about scrapping ice off the windscreen in the morning

2025 off to a flying start?!!

First day back at work today, and I had to share these.

1. On New Year's Eve, we had problems with our electrics. A few calls later, we had an engineer on site. He fixed the major issues and put a temporary fix on another problem. He promised to come back today, and just after 10.30 a.m. he was at our takeaway shop. In about 45 minutes, he was done 😃. When I asked for the bill, he bluntly refused to take any payment for the whole job. I was gobsmacked 🫨, and started protesting, but he firmly refused, did a fist 👊🏽 and chest bump, said 'next time', and walked away.

2. Shortly after, a friend/shrink/sounding board 🫡came round to listen to another one of my 'brain waves' (and make his usual direct, quirky inputs 😜). Running a business can be quite lonely, and I am truly grateful that I have somebody I can talk to from time to time 🙏🏽.

3. I offered to buy coffee, and we walked over to a nearby coffee shop. After ordering, as I was about to pay, a staff member who was just arriving for work saw me, exclaimed, Austine!! and immediately motioned to her colleague to hold off taking payment. She fumbled in her bag, brought out her phone, and tapped to get the staff discount. I beamed (whilst wondering if it was allowed) and moved to pay my now reduced price. But NO, she insisted, I AM PAYING FOR IT, Austine!, as she tapped her card and paid. She then went on to 'Bla bla bla' to her colleagues about us...🤪 who were... 🤷‍♀️🫡etc.

As we walked away, I was really humbled at how generous people are. How much love ❤️ people have, and are willing to share. All these, for me, and it wasn't even midday yet. 😇

The beanie is out!!

It is that time of year when these bad boys come out 🙄. I've got an assortment in my wardrobe, and I really adore this particular 'old banger' 🤩.

However, the 'haters' are on me again, making 'funny' comments 😉.

So, my question is, should I retire this or not?

Secondly, can you think of a suitable caption?

In the meantime, we are at the High Street market today, until 5 pm... but the food does not normally last that long. When it's gone...🤷

I'm humbled and thankful 🙏🏽

Most evenings, like today, I watch people coming in from work, backpack, briefcase 💼, handbag 👜 in tow, looking a tad bit weary😩. You can tell they have had a long day (week 😀) and perhaps a difficult one.

Some call us while they are on the train into Chelmsford, others just drop in once they get off the train. But for all of them, they have decided to 'treat' themselves and their loved ones ❤️.

No matter how many times it happens, and the conversations we have, I have not got used to the fact that people choose to come to us, in order to brighten their day, to celebrate, to get some comfort 😏.

I feel so privileged, humbled, and thankful that what we do actually means a lot to our customers. I am grateful.

To all those people out there who put in great effort to bring joy to others, whatever their role might be, I salute 🫡 you all. Keep up the great work 👍🏾.

Tomorrow, we do it all over again 😜.
