All sessions are run by me, Julianne. I have lived locally since I was very young with my parents, and since then with my own family. I understand and care very much about the local area and community. I have 17 years of experience employed locally in the Early Years Sector at nursery and pre-school, and 6 years voluntary in Primary School. Paediatric first aid trained: and have a full DBS certificate. Qualified with a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Pre-school Practice: I began a BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in 2018 at Staffordshire University, to further my knowledge and practice, and was awarded a first-class honours degree in 2021. I then completed a Master's in Education between 2021-2022. The modules studied for my BA degree include: Working with babies (children from birth to 2): Child development: History and Philosophy of Early Childhood Studies: Play Therapy: Children with Complex Needs: Safeguarding and Child Protection: Numeracy and Literacy Acquisition in the Early Years: as well as Global Perspectives on Childhood. In this time, I was fortunate enough to engage in a study tour of early years settings in Cantabria, Spain, which provided me with new ideas to use in practice. When taking my Master’s in Education at Staffordshire University I became particularly interested in the ‘Education for Social Justice’ module. I gained an increased awareness of the significant impact that inequalities and inequities in early childhood can have upon children’s outcomes throughout life, into adulthood. During my MA Education studies, I was honoured and humbled to be awarded the Dr Ruth Thompson global scholarship through the Horizon Fund at Staffordshire University, to attend the American Educational Research Association education conference with the theme, ‘Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century’, held in San Diego, California in April 2022. This incredible once in a lifetime experience gave me the opportunity to network and share ideas with like-minded people and to learn from other people’s research. I am additionally thankful for my recent university adventure as an ‘extra’ mature student because I was also awarded a place on the Be Inspired project, which is part funded by the European Development Fund. I am eternally grateful for this opportunity as it has helped to make a dream come true, by supporting me in the development of Make ‘n’ Doodle Do. I hope that Make ‘n’ Doodle Do creates fun and enjoyable opportunities for all children, families, and friends. Cultivating equity and making a positive social impact
Because I am passionate about supporting children and families, I also hope that my venture can make a positive social impact and contribute to social justice by cultivating equity for people who may be experiencing disadvantage, or a difficult time in their lives. Therefore, as well as offering sessions to individual children and adults, I also welcome working in partnership with charities, community groups or organisations such as, those that support children/families experiencing difficulties or challenge, including adverse childhood experiences, or SEND. Play sessions can be arranged either at the Glebe Farm studio, or within an alternative setting for example, at Children’s Centres, children’s residential homes, homeless shelters, or domestic abuse shelters. Please feel free to email me with any questions, requests or, to arrange a chat or a visit. Make ‘n’ Doodle Do aims to be fully inclusive and welcomes any suggestion or ideas that could improve and enhance the sessions or the provision of resources, to achieve this aim, thank you. Best wishes,
Julianne
