I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, because this post is nothing but praise for the team, the parents and especially the organisers behind this recent Race Night.
This is an Under-12s football team. No big sponsors, nothing flashy, just a fantastic group of lads and dedicated parents doing everything they can to keep playing the sport they love.
There are hundreds of teams just like this across the North East. Rising costs, pitch fees, referee fees, kits, equipment – it all adds up, and many clubs are working incredibly hard just to put a team out every week.
This was their very first Race Night, organised by a handful of parents who gave up a lot of their own time to make it happen. The result? OVER £1200 raised for the club.
No, it's not life-changing money, but it is money that will make a real difference. New strips, equipment, tournament entries – whatever they decide to spend it on, it will help.
And the money is only part of the story.
Everyone had a brilliant night. The players, parents and supporters all came together, friendships were strengthened, and everyone got the chance to let their hair down and enjoy themselves.
The end result – and yes, I'll happily brag because I see this happen time and time again – is a club buzzing with positivity, money in the bank to support the team, and memories made along the way.
If this team can do it, so can yours.
⚽️ No big sponsors.
⚽️ No huge budgets.
⚽️ Just great people coming together and having a fantastic night.
