That’s it for another year!

We’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us. It’s been a crazy but fabulous season, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

We kicked off the season with our first workshop this weekend, and it’s got us feeling all kinds of festive! These lovely ladies (and gent!) come back year after year, and it’s always such a lovely afternoon. They created some beautiful wreaths, each one unique to them.

We still have 2 places available for our workshop on Sunday 8th December – don’t miss out!

For those that are creating at home, our wreath kits are being prepared and will start leaving us on Thursday. If you’ve pre-ordered a wreath, it will be ready for collection or delivery from this weekend.

There’s still time to grab a kit or place your order. We will be adding willow bases and foliage bundles to the website this week, including our own eucalyptus.

I’ve been meaning to post but the past few weeks have been a bit crazy! We’ve had another frost, which killed most of the flowers, the field flooded, and I’ve been entertaining a very energetic puppy, whilst making willow bases.

Thank you to everyone who has placed an order. Your support has kept me busy, and today I’ll be posting out more bases and dried flowers. Keep an eye on the wholesale page as I’ll be adding the last of this year’s dried flower stock too.

Also thank you so much to everyone that has booked onto our winter workshops. We’ve nearly sold out, which is absolutely amazing!

Autumn is definitely in the air now and things at the field are starting to slow down. Our thoughts have turned to planning next year’s flowers, our biennials are in the ground and we’ve sown lots of our hardy annuals.

We’ve harvested lots more statice this week, along with strawflower, nigella seed pods, panicum and wild carrot. The drying racks are starting to look nice and full.

Lots of beautiful blooms left us this week and I didn’t get a single photo.

We’ve had a rest day today, before we do it all again next week with some gorgeous colours palettes.

These rudbeckia will be added to the wholesale availability list tomorrow and they will also be going into this week’s bouquet orders.

We’ve had a quieter week here this week. The school holidays mean juggling work and spending time with our girls.

It was subscription flower week though. Bouquets full of whites, lilacs and blues with touches of lemon were delivered to our lovely subscription customers.

We made the most of the dry weather last night and harvested lots of strawflower to go on the drying racks.

Flower farming is a wonderful job and I feel grateful everyday to do it, but it can also be super stressful at times. If it’s not the weather you’re contending with its slugs or aphids or whatever else fancy’s having a go at destroying all your hard work. That’s why it’s so important for me to take time to create with our flowers for absolutely no reason but to enjoy what we’ve grown. It’s even better when they are arranged in one of my many vintage stoneware jars.

An ever growing collection that is apparently becoming a bit of a problem as the space for them is running out. Will I stop buying them? No, probably not!

Today marks four years since I took the plunge and created Little Wild Flower and I’m feeling very proud to have come this far.

I was once told that I would never be able to grow enough flowers for a florist to even entertain using British flowers and now our main business is wholesale flowers to florists.

Each year our little business has grown and this year we have extended our growing space to keep up with the demand, which feels like an incredible achievement.

I couldn’t do this without the support of my family, who all very much put a shift in, but also I wouldn’t have come this far without the support of our amazing customers.

This morning we harvested over 200 stems of this beautiful limonium, the first flowers of the season to go on the drying racks.

This sunshine is making such a difference to the flowers, so many things have started to bloom. I finally feel like we’re getting somewhere after such a rubbish start to the season.

Happy Birthday Isobel!! A bit of an appreciation post for my first born who will hate this but thank you for being you, for keeping me calm on our nightly picks at the field during the summer (she only comes out when it’s warm) and counting each stem as I rush around cutting them. We are so proud of you baby girl, hope you have the best day!!

We walked the dogs for granny and grandad after school and it was the perfect end to the day and just what I needed. January can be quite a hard month because I’m always so eager to get on but the sunshine has helped today and I’ve got loads more potting on done. I can’t wait to start sowing seeds now.

We’re expanding our offering of wholesale flowers again this year so we can supply more florists with seasonal flowers. One of my favourite things about being a flower farmer is curating buckets to fit a particular colour palette. I started out in floristry so I understand what works and what doesn’t.
