Most of you will know my mum died of complications caused by Alzheimers nearly three years ago. Alzheimers is a disease which has caused a lot of heartache in my family with mum, auntie, uncle, and great aunt all suffering from it. Christmas Day was mums birthday and she would have been 89 this year. To honour her and raise money to find a cure for this terrible disease I shall be 'braving the shave' and shaving my head, possibly live on Facebook, on Christmas day in support of Alzheimers Research UK.

"From the minute I spoke to Jennifer on the telephone, I knew I wanted her to be our celebrant. Jennifer was very down to earth, I could tell she was ‘local’ as could relate to her with many things, I knew she would be a great celebrant. She spoke very well, and had much character and enthusiasm in her voice. Jennifer came out to see me, and then came back again to meet myself and Gavin to get a feel for what our relationship was like and what kind of ceremony we wanted. We had regular chats over WhatsApp and she telephoned me the week of the wedding to ensure everything was all ok, and that nothing had changed. I knew I was in safe hands with Jennifer and that she would do the best job. Everyone commented on how brilliant she was! The script and certificate was presented beautifully too! Definitely recommend!!"

They say that sometimes
love starts with a spark.

And that might be true,
but if I were to wish you a love,
I wouldn't wish fire for you.

You see, fire is powerful.
It burns bright and then it's gone.
It's beautiful and warm,

I wish you a love like a river twists and turns.
It changes and it flows,

This is not so much wedding poetry as advice to brides - and grooms! - who are overthinking what they will look like on their 'big day'. Remember, this is not the BEST day of your life, its the start of a better life. If you don't think that, then I worry for you.

When we are young, we want to look older.
And when we are old, we want to look younger.
And there is a window in the middle of it all when we’re supposed to look as we wish.
But we waste that time wishing
we were taller or thinner or curvier,
our hair was longer or shinier, curlier,
parts of our body were firmer and perkier
and we’d started to use anti-wrinkle cream earlier.
And by the time we realise we were perfect just as we were,
the window has closed. It is too late.
Too late to realise that all those things never really mattered in the first place.
But it’s never too late to start letting go.
To stop wanting, stop wishing.
It’s never too late to accept yourself.
To look in the mirror and realise that all along, you never needed to look older or younger or anything else.
You just needed to look like you.

So, my Zumba ladies know I keep banging on about my favourite Bollywood movie, Kal Ho Na Ho. My favourite Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan, my favourite Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, every tune is a winner - whats not to like? Its a perfect wedding song for Indian weddings, and also for those folks who like to do a 'surprise bridesmaids and groomsmen' dance. I have a 'zumba version' which is easier for us Brits, if you fancy giving it a go for your wedding - message me, happy to send it to you. Of course, if I'm your celebrant we can work on it together....

Congratulations to this super cute couple Julie Mumby and Michael Mumby on their 10th wedding anniversary and vow renewal. The single most challenging ceremony I have done because the whole thing was organised in ONE WEEK!! When her booked venue let her down, Weddings on Pudding Pie Hill were kind enough to accommodate her at the last minute and she approached me to see what could be done. I wrote a custom service, they wrote their own vows, I provided music, a custom designed certificate, and she wore the same dress she wore when she got married ten years ago! The craziest thing was, her husband did not know until he arrived at the venue! A wonderful, crazy day I shall never forget.
