As evening falls, the gardens are lit with romantic up-lights that highlight the fantastic flint and log walls of the wedding barns. Here guests can gather in the relaxing and sheltered Collecti
ng Yard with its sumptuous sofas, fire pit and al fresco bar to enjoy a truly magical evening setting. The Dairy Barn has been lovingly restored with rustic charm and romantic touches and can host 120 loved ones for a ceremony. With a wonderful sweeping 22-metre aisle, exposed wooden beams and benches made of sweet chestnut, it’s an idyllic setting to tie the knot. Southend Barns also has a fully licensed outdoor ceremony area known as The Secret Garden, which can accommodate up to 100 guests. This enchanting garden is nestled in a tranquil spot between the resident alpacas’ field and the flint walls of the Dairy Barn. Post-vows, dine and dance the night away in the magnificent 220-year-old Threshing Barn, which is full of warmth and character with its authentic wooden beams and wrought iron chandeliers. Large windows provide spectacular views of the landscaped gardens and sunsets over the surrounding countryside. The Threshing Barn can seat 120 diners, and 200 guests can attend the evening reception. When tying the knot here, there’s also on-site accommodation with a luxurious shepherd’s hut and large bridal suite that comes with everything you could need. We were thrilled to host the unforgettable wedding of Mr and Mrs Graham at Southend Barns, filled with joy and incredible moments.
Their special day began with delightful pre-ceremony drinks, setting the perfect tone for the celebrations. Later in the day, our expert Roots bar team created personalised cocktails, making the cocktail hour a fun highlight. The décor in both the Dairy Barn and Threshing Barn was truly out of this world, with stunning black draping, an abundance of candles, and breathtaking florals creating a magical atmosphere. 🌸🕯️
A huge shout-out to our talented chefs who poured their heart and soul into crafting a spectacular menu. From flavourful canapés and a delicious wedding breakfast to mouth-watering wood-fired pizzas, every bite was a testament to their incredible talent.
The day concluded with a brilliant fireworks display, adding an extra touch of magic to an already perfect day. 🎆

The celebrations kicked off with a romantic ceremony in the enchanting Secret Garden.🌸 The festivities continued with vibrant celebrations with a live DJ and saxophonist keeping the energy high from the reception to the evening party, featuring classic games like Limbo and Connect4, adding a playful twist to the afternoon. 🎉
Our Roots Catering Chefs wowed with delicious canapés, all paired along with local Tinwood Estate Wines sparkling wine.🍴🥂 The wedding breakfast featured fresh, seasonal ingredients from our Roots Kitchen Garden, created by our talented Roots Chefs, offering dishes like Burata with local Nutbourne tomatoes and sharing mains of lamb kleftiko and Moroccan veggie tagine. No celebration would be complete without a cocktail hour, where guests sipped on spicy mezcalitas and refreshing Aperol Spritz, serve from our outside Roots terrace bar. As the evening progressed, everyone enjoyed wood-fired pizzas from our Outside Roots kitchen, wrapping up the day with delicious bites.🍕

As we look back on this wonderful year of weddings, our hearts are full of gratitude. Every wedding we’ve been part of has been so unique, and we’ve truly loved every moment of it. The chance to celebrate with so many lovely couples and share in their special day has been an absolute privilege. Each one has been a beautiful reminder of what makes weddings so meaningful. ❤️
This year has been one of exciting growth for us. We introduced our six luxury bell tents as additional accommodation, available from April to September, providing accommodation space for up to 16 guests. Each bell tent accommodates two adults and comes fully equipped with lighting, charging points, and luxurious double beds dressed in Egyptian cotton bedding. Guests can also enjoy a delicious continental breakfast prepared by our talented Roots chefs. ✨
We’re thrilled to announce our Weekend Luxe Edition, offering a truly unforgettable three-day celebration. This includes a Friday Meet and Mingle with a Sussex farm feast served in our traditional maypole canvas tent, your wedding day celebration, and a Sunday Farewell Brunch featuring a traditional cooked breakfast. Perfect for couples seeking a weekend of joy and connection with their loved ones. 💕
We have welcomed Flowers by Lucy at Southend Barns into our family and can’t wait to see it blossom in the year ahead. 🌸
We’re especially proud to announce that all weddings at Southend Barns are now carbon neutral. Our regenerative farming journey is so important to us, and we’re excited to keep learning, growing, and making a positive impact on the environment. 🚜🍃
We’ve had some personal milestones too! Our amazing pastry chef Rachel and Evening Supervisor welcomed the beautiful baby Archie into the world - what a joy to watch him grow. 🍼💙 And a huge congratulations to our talented Event Manager Liv, who got engaged this year. Such exciting news! 💍💕
