I always get reminded that I should utilise my photography at home. It's all about getting that expression that makes your heart melt. The lighting, composition etc is all important but definitely secondary.

It's been a long winter but a pleasant turn in the weather and a lovely couple to photograph for their shoot signals the start of what will hopefully be a wonderful year ahead.
And.... we’re back. First wedding in 18 months after a lengthy industry shut down. Great to see smiles and people being themselves again, all the wonderful attributes that make us human.
Hoping to slowly get back into photography with some weddings coming up soon. Thought I'd take the camera out with the family and use my favourite little model for some practice.

Witnessed a kill in the garden today so thought it was high time I got the camera out for a little wildlife photography. I've seen evidence of a few kills recently so she may be roosting close by and quite possibly in our beech tree. Unusually she let me get quite close. She totally clocked me (one of the images below) sitting on the fence and eyeballed be right down the barrel of the lens.

Its been a lifetime since last post. As you can imagine, Covid has not been great for the wedding and events industry and many of us have had our entire 2020 calendar wiped. I am massively lucky that my family and myself are all safe, well and happy, and as life unfolds, I've actually spent the most of this year being a hands on Daddy to Willow. It was always a long term plan to ease back on work for these couple of precious family years anyway so in the bigger scheme of things, not having any work this year isn't the end of the world. As most of the photography I do is based around weddings and events, I'll be kicking off again for next season but in the mean time its plenty of family time and also a massive amount of time finishing off another creative project which has taken the best part of three years (and counting) of which I'll be delighted to share with you very soon too. Hope everyone is well and safe and can't wait to see new and old faces again in the new year.

A little while since I've been to St John's church, still love the little tree lined hedge row there for the bride and groom photos.
Awesome when it all happens without any direction.
A little bit of filming today for a live medical procedure with one of our returning clients. A lot of people have no idea that we do commercial filming as well as photography. It’s one area we’re definitely expanding into and small-medium sized businesses that need to generate original video content or promo material, we’re here waiting for you... :-)
Have been really lucky with the Autumn weather for a series of engagement shoots I've done in the last few weeks. For anyone on instagram, there are more on our Insta page too.
Sat at my computer doing some design work earlier and dozens of red kites were flapping making a right noise outside. Peeked out the window and this dude just sat staring me out so got my camera and took a pic. Normally if there is one in the tree they fly off as soon as they hear me open the window but this guy didn’t care and just chilled out in his sun spot.
Yesterday we tried something new... a special one day event for musicians with a chance to have two original tracks recorded and filmed in a local studio. Fully booked with 5 acts throughout the day. Had an absolute blast and heard some really great artists. Hopefully this will be moulded into a proper service for 2019. If you guys know any musicians that would like an audio or video recording send them this way and they’ll be notified of next event. :-) p
Earlier in the year, I mentioned something about exploring new creative areas in my career and part of that was crossing over to film. I said there were three areas of filmmaking I was looking work in and develop as a creative. Proud to announce "1 of 3" The first filming service I am working on is live location music video recording. Too much to describe in one post so watch this space. More info on this to follow, but in the mean time check out a demo beta clip of fabulous local artist Simon Stafford performing "The Moon Slipped." If you have any music friends, feel free to share as we may well indeed be offering a free session or two this side of Christmas. :-) P

"Engagement" sessions are still more popular than ever. They're not so much a celebration of an actual proposal but more of a documented chapter to look back on after you've tied the knot. Most couples I meet have never had photographs taken together beyond an iPhone so its really helpful and almost like a mini photography boot camp to plant some seeds and ideas for the big day itself. Presenting these memories, we often use beautifully presented art boxes containing 10 mounted prints, complete with high res digitals on the USB too.
Corporate photography on the golf course at Stoke Park today. Photographed, printed, mounted, framed and boxed up all in time for when they get back for lunch after 18 holes.
Back to the future, The Godfather, Lord of the rings... All the best stories are told in threes...

Its been a while since last post. Being quiet on social media normally means being mega busy behind the scenes and this year is definitely no exception. Pictures Inc is 11 years old now and life is pretty good but as the industry has changed heaps since I started out it has also changed the way I work and to some extent my ambitions as well. I will still be doing weddings and lifestyle shoots for a good few years yet, but an area I am branching out into more is video. I've done a handful of video assignments, mainly from my commercial photography clients and have had a blast filming and editing them too. Being a creative at heart, the scripting side of filmmaking is something I really dig too. I thought long and hard about what kind of videos I could really get my teeth into and enjoy and three themes have kept popping up over the last couple of years (going to announce shortly). These three themes side by side do appear quite random, but in my little universe they are all connected to me and are themes that I am very passionate about and feel I could contribute to. So please keep your eyes peeled, there will be a separate feature post introducing these new areas of filming Im hoping to get into and I'll be explaining in a lot more detail. In the mean time I have some gorgeous wedding and lifestyle pics to share with y'all too. Sorry its been so long!!!
