We had the most amazing final Beacon Festival last weekend, and we'd like to thank everyone who came along and celebrated with us! By attending, you've also helped us support incredible work happening in our community.

As part of the ethos of Beacon, each year, we divide any profit made to local charities and organisations who are doing great work for our community.

We're now taking applications from charities and not-for-profit organisations that we can support this year. So if you know any deserving organisations, please spread the word!

Fill in the form on our website now: https://www.beaconfestival.net/charities-applications

We are pleased to let you know that we collected 18.6kgs of surplus food from Beacon Festival this year. That’s great, all of that will go to the 200+ charities and community groups that we support across Oxfordshire. This means that, instead of potentially going to waste, the good quality, healthy food from Beacon will be going to help vulnerable people suffering from homelessness, food insecurity and food poverty, mental ill-health, loneliness and many more. Whilst it will all be massively appreciated, the toilet paper in particular will be popular as we don’t often get this via our usual suppliers.

Our Busk Stop is the place to catch talented acoustic musicians against the best backdrop in Oxfordshire.

Musicians will be playing on the hour from 1pm - the half hour slots (1:30, 2:30 etc) are reserved for walk-ups.

So if you’re an open mic veteran, or a budding performer wanting to play to the Beacon crowd, head on over today! There’ll be a guitar available to borrow πŸ”₯🎀🎢

Here is some Busk Stop action from yesterday- with the Busk Stop schedule of performers, too.

In the Busk Stop zone, you’ll also spot Toby Trout, an incredible sculpture created by Watlington ArtsHub!

See you there!

We’re thrilled to announce that will be collecting surplus food from πŸŽ‰πŸŽΆ

Their mission is to save food from going to waste and redistribute it to over 200 incredible charities and community groups. By partnering with events like Beacon Festival, they can ensure that surplus food finds its way to those in need instead of ending up as waste 🍎πŸ₯–πŸ’š

Together, we’re making a positive impact on our community and the environment! 🌍❀️

⚠️ Independent festivals are dying! ⚠️ We are losing UK festivals at around one every two weeks, which is devastating.

Unless we want to be left with a bland mix of events all run by the same few companies and heavily sponsored by unethical corporates, we need to make a stand for our kids.

The best way to support your beloved small events is to buy tickets early. We know this isn't possible for all in the current cost of living crisis. What everyone can do is share the events you love. Leave reviews and post your photos and videos. Comment and share festival posts and show them your love. Don't just scroll. Put your fingers to work and keep independent festivals alive. The power is in our thumbs! πŸ‘

There's been sign-painting, pig-moving, toilet- shifting, tent-organising, logistics-planning - and did we mention bunting?

It's starting to take shape thanks to our wonderful committee and dedicated volunteers, who are giving it everything they've got to make the last ever Beacon one to remember πŸ”₯
