⭐️ Calling all young crafters & creatives! ⭐️

We have an exciting new craft club starting this Monday 3rd June for young people 11+ (super keen 10 yr olds are also welcome to join in) 🙂

⛪️ At St Johns Church, Churchdown, GL3 2DB (in the small hall)

⏰ 7-8pm

🪙 £3.50 in advance, £4.50 on the door

🧵 All crafts are encouraged! Bring a project, make new friends, learn something new and get some help with your crafts if you’d like. Relaxed atmosphere to socialise and meet likeminded people.

🎨 Supported by Lisa Donaldson, Art Tutor at Create Well Project. Staff are DBS cleared, SEND and safeguarding trained. Lisa has BA (Hons) Degree in painting and drawing and 12 years experience working with young people in schools and colleges. She loves to share creativity and help others to build their skills and confidence. Lisa teaches drawing and painting (including digital art), crochet and lots of other fun textiles such as macrame, sewing and lots more!

🧶 Opportunities for more fun activities as the group grows such as a group exhibition or craft sale and art & craft workshops. Group activities will be decided by the young people attending.

⭐️ We are hiring! ⭐️

I have some exciting opportunities available for new team members. Please read the details below and if you think this sounds like you please tell me what you are interested in doing and why you think you’d be a good fit via email at [email protected] 😃. Full training will be given, hourly rate will depend on age and experience.

I have lots of opportunities available, do feel free to contact me with questions. The work is often occasional and part time. I like to offer work rather than expect work so that people don’t feel overcommitted and under pressure. The option of occasional work to fit round other commitments is welcome. More regular hours may be possible for those interested too. We currently have a supportive, inclusive and understanding team, where we are open and honest, give adaptions to support our crew and ensure a happy environment! We have a laugh, do lots of fun events and generally have a good time 🙂.

⭐️ Event Support Staff

- Welcoming, friendly person required to greet people in the queue, chat and answer questions. Good with children, patient, kind and smiley!
- Take payments via simple card machine and in cash and give change. (Card machine calculates this for you).
- Helping to set up and pack away when required. Transferring equipment from the car to the stall area, helping to set up the gazebo and get the stall ready for the day.
- Refilling water pots and emptying dirty water.
- Finding me a cup of tea when we are busy! 🙂
- At busy times, assisting with glitter tattoos, paint tattoos and hair if interested.

⭐️ Face painters

I am looking to take on face painters and/or train staff to support me with painting at bigger/busier events under my business name. This could also include some party work working alongside me and as an independent face painter as part of the Create Well Project team. Being naturally creative is a big bonus, but full training is available too. Applying glitter tattoos and hair braids may also be required, full training can be given. At events, some event support type work may be required to help out too.

I recently met lovely Clive in the Chamwell Centre cafe. He was there with his family and approached me asking if he could have his face painted. I of course said absolutely!

He went on to tell me that he has been very poorly and has scars on his face. He wanted to have something beautiful on his face as he was always looking at the scars. This really touched my heart ♥️ but that’s not the whole story…

Clive then went on to say that he wanted to pay for all of the children that came up for face painting while he was in the cafe. He said that he loved to see the children’s smiles and would I please keep a tab of what he owed. He then went around to each parent saying that he was paying.

Well, the bill came to £35 and I thought oh dear I need to break the news! Clive replied ‘make it £50 and give the next three children a paint for free’. I was blown away by his generosity and kindness.

So I want to pay this kindness forward. I want to gift 5 free face paints (or equivalent amount in tattoos/party booking) to people that want to share in this kindness. Please comment, private message or tag someone that you’d like to give a free face paint. I’ll choose 5 winners or a family/s to receive a ticket to use at an event of their choice or £ towards a party.

Maybe you know an incredibly hardworking mum/dad/carer, a family that could do with some fun or a child that goes above and beyond supporting a sibling or has faced some difficult times. I’d love for this to be an ongoing project where by people can pay forward a face paint to those that can’t usually have one for whatever reason. Watch this space…

Remembering this throwback! Two of my original crochet crew at some of the first crochet workshops I ran in Feb 2020!

Since then I have literally lost count of how many fabulous humans I’ve taught to crochet… (I really wish I’d kept count!!) but I think it must be several 100s of beginners.

I love this photo so much because I think it sums up the sessions, fun, loads of smiles, connecting crafty people that didn’t know each other before to learn a fab skill that they can enjoy for years to come.

Did you know that learning and mastering a new skill is one of the best things you can do for your mental health? I’m so passionate to help you to learn too and in a way that suits YOU best!

Wave goodbye to the bad tips you’ve collected and the frustration and come and try a workshop with me. I know that I can help you, too 😀.

Did I ever tell you Beano’s story? 🐾 🐶 ♥️
Beano is my best friend and I often think me jn dog form. He started life jn Spain where he was rescued due to neglect at the age of 2. He spent 4 years in a Spanish shelter before being brought to the UK by a rescue called Foreign Furries. He was homed in the UK but was returned the next day because he had wee’d on the floor. We were looking for a dog and FF said they thought they had the perfect dog for us. Beano was not being advertised due to being returned to the shelter.

We forever homed him and he has lived with us for 5 years. He will never be passed around again! Beano was very anxious (but always a sweetie) when we first got him. He was scared of walking in the dark, wrapping paper tubes, the car and having his lead put on.

Beano is now a sassy little dog with a big personality! He will bark to tell me the cat wants in and paws you for more pets. He is loved by everyone he meets. We say he is aging backwards as he is so full of fun now and zest for life. I thought that this level of bravery ought to be celebrated and so he features on some of our products as a reminder to all to Be More Beano. He has his own postcard and features on our mugs, insta famous alongside his little brother.
