💫So that's a wrap for 2024 with weddings and wreaths💫

So what does your wedding florist do between now and when the wedding season begins again next year I hear you ask? 🤔

Firstly, some time off with my family 💙💙💙🩷

After the hustle and bustle of Christmas celebrations, couples may find themselves with a quiet moment to reflect on their wedding plans, this lull often sparks a wave of realization that there’s wedding planning to do 📒🖋

As a new year approaches, many couples are struck by the reality that their wedding is just a year away—especially if they're planning for a 2025 wedding. The urgency hits as they realize that many of the top suppliers, such as venues, photographers, caterers, and florists, get booked up quickly. This can lead to a sudden rush to secure contracts and reserve spots for preferred vendors hence Jan and Feb are a busy time for consultations and creating bespoke quotes ✨️

Christmas is also a popular time for engagements with couples spending time in The Cotswolds so there is also a spike in enquiries 💍

I also have a new website in the making with a mini brand refresh, I spent a wonderful coaching day a few weeks back with the wonderful who inspired and motivated me ✨️

On top of that, I've been doing an Instagram for florists course with the lovely Lou from so I really need to sit down and implement! ✨️

Oh and last but not least a big old tidy up and clean in the studio and a good clear out, I'm not a hoarder but I'm always hesitant to throw too much out in case items come back into fashion, how long do I keep hundreds of jam jars for!!!

HI, I’m Jo, the proud owner of Aqua Floral Design.

I thought I'd say a hi to my new followers and say a bit about me 👋

I’ve been creating beautiful wedding flowers for 9 years now, but before all of this, I had a glamorous career as a fashion buyer! 👗 However, after becoming a mum to twins (and lots of travel) I decided I needed to find a new carer, a less stressful one!!!
Many moons ago I took a florist workshop at my local florist shop and the seed was planted 🌿 I swapped my designer bags and heels for wellies and secateurs, and the rest is history!
Now, I’m lucky to be surrounded by the stunning Cotswolds countryside, where my natural, 'just gathered' style flourishes. 🌻 My love for colour, texture, and form from the fashion world now lives through the flowers I create!

This stunning bouquet creates a harmonious blend of delicate hues of buttery lemon roses, Veronica, Lisi, Stocks and Wax Flower.

At the heart of the bouquet, The Garden Ohara Rose, with its soft multi layer petals in soft pinks or peach tones offer a fragrance that is simply intoxicating—rich, romantic, and evocative of memories spent in my grandmother's garden.

Isn't it amazing how certain flowers can carry memories and emotions through their fragrance.

Wedding Breakfast 🍽🍾🍰
Setting the scene here ...the ceremony is over, drinks and canapés consumed 📸 taken and you start to gather with your new life partner, your family and your friends to begin a sumptuous feast of your favourite foods whilst listening to speeches, laughing, crying and smiling and not wanting this time to end, all in the surroundings of an elegant banquet.
Crisp linen cloths and napkins, shiny perfectly placed cutlery, elegant glasses and plates topped off with a stunning array of seasonal flowers.
That is why the flowers for your wedding breakfast are one of the most important element of the day.
For this stunning wedding the arch, pedestals and meadow runners were moved from the church to the reception so the guests could continue to enjoy their beauty, tables were adorned with budvases filled with flowers amongst candles (provided by us) and lush foliage 🌿🌿🌿

Throwback to one of our first weddings of the year in April for Sinead and Luke .
This venue will always hold a special place in my heart as when I first started out so were they. I had an enquiry from a couple who had booked the barn, how could I quote without going to see the venue so off I popped to find the most beautiful farm buildings that had been converted into a beautiful brand new wedding venue set in the rolling Cotswold countryside of a family farm and still very much run as a family business today 🤍

Kirsty and Luke chose a pretty muted palette of blush pink QuickSand Roses and Bombastic Spray Roses (just the best name)! Along with seasonal Dahlias, Stocks, Delphs,Larkspur, Wax Flower and lush Cornish foliage.

For Rebecca and Stephen's stunning summer wedding.

Talking of pastels as we near the end of peak wedding season 2024 a quick reflection on what we saw as our top 3 colour palettes.

Blush pinks and soft ivories, this classic and elegant palette will always be a firm favourite and never date.
Traditional whites and greens with lots of lush foliage still a popular choice with our couples.
With 'Peach Fuzz' being the pantone colour of the year we've seen pretty soft peach palettes coming through and looking really strong for 2025 🤍

I love a geeky fact! 🧮

385 is the number of weddings I've flowered in 8 years 😲

1,540 is the approximate number of bouquets I've created.

2,310 at approximately 6 per wedding, the amount of buttonholes I've made.

And I cannot imagine how many stems I've ordered! Thankyou 🙏🌿💐

And yet until I've handed the bouquet to the bride on the morning of the wedding I STILL get nervous!
My husband used to say to me "what is more nerve wracking, presenting to a board of directors in a large corporate company (from my fashion buying days) or presenting a bride with her bouquet, the later for sure. Being a wedding florist is a HUGE responsibility, you have one shot to get it right, infact perfect 👌 and I am a perfectionist.

🌿LAPSTONE BARN 🌿

Having been a proud preferred supplier for many years now, I've seen various ways to flower the Stone Barn. I get asked by most of my couples my advise on what is too much and what is not enough.
In my opinion it's above, aisle and focus point.
With it's beautiful Cotswold stone honey toned walls and elegant timeless history why cover it up!

Above - hanging chandeliers of foliage and flowers (or just foliage) or 'Flower Bombs' (as pics) give that WOW factor as your guests walk in.

Aisle - meadow runners look stunning and guide you down the aisle to your loved one, these can also be repurposed to the ends of banquet tables or top table (see pics), or if you're having round tables around the cake table or any signs.

Focus point - whatever you decide on here it will be in your photographs behind you when you say your vowels, be it a broken arch, full arch or pedestals, again to be repurposed after the ceremony, mainly moved to frame your cake and again feature in more pictures.

But whatever your preference we can discuss fully in your consultation with me, and you know what if you can't decide at the point of booking then you have the option to amend nearer the time.
