To Gyp or Not to Gyp?

Gysophila (or ‘gyp’, as it’s lovingly nicknamed) has had a bit of a reputation as the “budget-friendly” floral choice—but don’t let that fool you. When styled well and sourced fresh, it can look absolutely breathtaking.

We’ve seen some truly stunning setups here at Long Furlong Barn where gyp takes centre stage—from dreamy chair aisle arrangements and oversized bunches in milk churns. It’s soft, airy, and catches the light beautifully against our barn’s rustic charm.

Over the years, we’ve seen so many wonderful mums pass through our doors, each playing their own special part. That's the warm welcome we embody here at Long Furlong Barn, along with all the unique touches that make our venue special for each couple.

Take our iconic red telephone box, for example! Not only does it add a charming British flair to our barn, but it's also a rare gem. Did you know that out of approximately 20,000 working phone boxes left in the UK, only around 3,000 are traditional red kiosks? (newsroom.bt.com) We're proud to have one standing proudly on our grounds, offering a perfect backdrop for your wedding photos. 📸

This gorgeous pair tied the knot with us in late October, and while there was a sprinkling of rain, the day ended with one of the most breathtaking autumn sunsets of the season.

Charlotte & Sam made the most of our table décor, adding their own touch with adorable autumnal pumpkins and rich foliage for a beautifully natural look. Hire Your Day brought the wow factor, creating a stunning draped backdrop for the ceremony, perfectly complemented by elegant sage green chair sashes

And that sunset? Absolutely epic. Not only did it give the couple a few intimate moments together, but it also created the perfect golden-hour backdrop for some unforgettable group photos. 📸💛

Situated in the Sussex countryside steeped in history, our licensed wedding venue really speaks for itself and always delights and inspires our couples when they see our facilities for the first time.

The smaller barn known as the Cart Shed can comfortably seat up to 120 guests for the wedding ceremony, whilst our impressive second barn The Granary can seat up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast.
