Great to find out I’ve got 2 new ‘story’ awards and a ‘reportage’ award in the first round of 2025. I decided to have a year off from entering awards last year and to be honest I really missed the challenge.

Here’s the first of 2 stories and I’m so chuffed to have got one from Grace and Kai’s incredible wedding in Greece - a real highlight of last year.

Hope everyone has had a great start to 2025?!

Over the next few days I’m going to share a few of my favourite story award from over the years. I’ve been lucky enough to win 37 story awards (77 in total) resulting in me being the story teller of the year 3 times running. This award from Heather and Bens wedding is from 2017, my first TIR award from the very first round. Why am I sharing photos from over 7 years ago??

Well, since NYE my feed has been full of posts about trends you MUST follow, and the only one I agreed with was ‘to do things your way’ and that was immediately followed by what colour scheme you have to have. You don’t need to follow trends. By their very definition, trends date. Authentic Photos don’t.

My focus is always on your story, and I work hard all day hunting for moment after moment and crafting them into beautiful images that remind you just how amazing your day was - your story!

Merry Christmas everyone! I’m getting in the kitchen now with a drink or 7 - have a great time with all your favourites.

Fiona & John ‘mastered’ the art of partying. From the second they said ‘I do’ and walked them out of the ceremony it was a non stop cocktail fuelled party right to the end. Holmes looked amazing and it was great to be back there for the first this time this year (the place is normally quite literally a second home to me!)

It’s been just over a month since the 9dots gathering and finally after being away most of October and November I’ve found a minute to finally post about the incredible experience that I had.

It’s such a massive honour to be invited to speak at such a prestigious photography event, one that champions ‘community over competition’ so a huge thanks to and for inviting me to talk - it was most definitely a ‘bucket list’ thing ticked off. While I’ve spoken at the smaller ‘9D go’ before this was the first time at the gathering - a room full of incredible talented wedding photographers.

I spoke about ‘story telling’ which has become the main part of my brand…or capturing ‘the vibe’ as is a trendier way to say the same thing. It was also so good to hear the talks of other photo friends, especially , , .fotografia and . All of which were so inspiring!

A huge thanks to everyone there who listened - and everyone who partied! It was an awesome couple of days and went far too fast!

I’m so happy for Charlotte and Alex - They had the most incredible wedding in Santa Barbara and I feel so privileged to have had a small part in it. It was just amazing… The spicy Margaritas were pretty special and Charlotte is officially the first person to have ‘children of the night’ played at their wedding (kind of hoping this is a one off). And not to mention those shoes!!!

Laura and Fraser… what an INSANELY amazing day up at the beautiful . I’ve been waiting to shoot a wedding here for a while and it didn’t disappoint, but even though the stylings, the food, great supplier friends and weather (special shout out weather for being like summer when it wasn’t supposed to be!) we’re all top, it was all about the people - the most lovely bunch who didn’t half love a great party!!!

What was also great, was that I used to work for Laura’s dad Jeremy Makinson at his studio years ago. A brilliant man and good laugh - I learnt so much from him!!

Thought I’d share a few faves from the last few years that I came across while looking for a particular image. One of the reasons I don’t follow trends and put more importance on consistency is that the images don’t date - some of these go back to 2018 but still stand up with the moments I’m capturing today.

I had a slight slip up from my ‘year off’ entering awards. To be honest I’m really missing the challenge, so when the entry form email came through just as my membership renewed and I was in between jobs, the fomo got the better of me, and I’m thrilled to say for the first time in ages that I’VE WON 3 FEARLESS AWARDS!!!

Katie & Jake!!!
