Event Planning for new beginnings

July 30th 2016 , As I sat in my good friend,Donnie Eib’s Orlando apartment while on holiday with the rain pouring down much like my native Scotland, I was questioning where I was going in life, I had been recovering from last nights excursion of partying with my good friend Donnie, I had been studying Event Management for several years now at the University of the West of Scotland - Paisley Campus, I felt limited in prospects even from having worked in events from the tender age of 13 years old, I felt that my previous experiences were never really acknowledged by the faculty at the University however I always ventured into the unknown taking on additional projects and different volunteering opportunities.

On this particular day in July 2016, I felt as if I needed a new adventure. So I decided to register the company name Arona Event Network. The process was easy enough, however, the story of why I chose the name Arona lays not in Scotland or in the USA but in Tenerife in the Canary Islands in Spain. I had been to Tenerife a few times previously and I was astounded that you could be in one part of Tenerife i.e (Playa de las Americas) and all you saw was wild partying at bars and strip clubs however the difference lay in the fact that you could walk 10/15 minutes away from Playa de las Americas and be transported into transformed surroundings which were both tranquil and relaxing through quiet streets and fine dining restaurants in Los Cristianos. This presented to me almost like a heaven and hell scenario but ultimately both had their own appeal, the district that both these areas belonged to was called Arona so while I sat on my laptop in Donnie’s apartment I decided that I would try and offer the wild partying that I had seen as well as offering the other side of things through peace and tranquillity. So the decision was made the business would be called Arona Event Network

Fast forward to October of 2016 and we staged our first event the casino-themed event called “Casino Royale” where we chose Action for Children Scotland as our beneficiary to the event as we wanted to show our due diligence to help other organisations. Successfully we raised over £1ooo on the night courtesy of our 80 attendees where a night of fun was had by all acknowledged by the reviews we received on our own page

The following year in 2017 we slowly but surely networked and grew relationships with fellow start-up businesses. We were even fortunate enough to sponsor the Scottish Alternative Music Awards and Edinburgh based mental health initiative Real Talk. In the same year we produced the sequel to Casino Royale 2016, In this year we had a lot to be thankful for with the great help from our suppliers; Big Deal Fun Casino and En Croute Catering but again we achieved our goal of supplying a successful event
