** GIG ANNOUNCEMENT **
We are delighted to welcome the fantastic Blue Rose Code to 50rpm for an intimate duo show on Friday 27th June at the The Georgian Hotel, with very special guest Sulidae opening for them.

The band played a stunning S0LD-0UT show at Glasgow's Pavillion theatre in January as part of Celtic Connections, so we are totally stoked to have them come and play for us.

Tickets are available now on our tickets site at https://wegottickets.com/event/651864/

** Please note we have a no talking policy when the acts are performing. If you can't manage this, don't buy a ticket **

Blue Rose Code is a musical collective formed and fronted by Edinburgh-born songwriter Ross Wilson. At the edge of contemporary Alt-Folk, Wilson’s music evokes a meeting of Van Morrison and a young John Martyn, both shipwrecked with a bunch of Motown records.

Ross spent his creative formative years in East London, then moved to South England “to be by the sea’s energy” but it is in his homecoming that he has found where his heart is. A nomad both geographically and musically, Ross writes from the heart eschewing any specific genre and his 2017 album, The Water Of Leith, addresses themes of love, loss, travel, home, accepting the past and embracing the future. His music is painted with colours of Folk, Jazz, Soul and Pop; an eclecticism that has become the hallmark of Blue Rose Code.

It was in Ross’ return to his Scottish homeland where he reconnected with the stellar musicians who were to become a vital part of The Water Of Leith album’s sound: multi award-winning singer Julie Fowlis, celebrated Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes, BBC Folk Award Winner, Ross Ainslie, 2017’s Scottish Jazz Awards’ instrumentalist of the year Konrad Wiszniewski, leading violinist Seonaid Aitken and three of Scotland’s finest jazz musicians; John Lowrie, Colin Steele and James Lindsay, to name just some of the contributors. Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman features on the opening track. Ross co-produced the album with Angus Lyon. Wilson’s 2014 album, The Ballads of Peckham Rye, was nominated for the prestigious Scottish Album of the Year Awards and featured a roll-call of remarkable talent, including Danny Thompson, Karine Polwart, John Wetton, Aidan O’Rourke and Kathryn Williams.

Blue Rose Code are heard regularly in session for the BBC (TV and Radio), STV, Alba, TG4, Virgin Radio and more. However live performance is where Blue Rose Code connects strongly with their audiences, having toured the length and breadth of the UK selling out venues wherever they go and leaving a trail of fans in their wake, including at Celtic Connections, Edinburgh Fringe, Looe, Summer Isles, Lindisfarne, Southern Fried, Underneath The Stars.

Ross has spent most of his musical life curating; he sculpts his band to every mood and temperament in order to create the perfect happening.

Sulidae is the musical brainchild of Howwood based singer songwriter & poet Bobby Motherwell, and a big favorite of ours here at 50rpm.

** GIG ANNOUNCEMENT **
We are excited to welcome the brilliant award-winning singer songwriter Brownbear to 50rpm for the first time. We have been long-term admirers of this fantastic songwriter, so we are delighted to have him come play for us.

The Ayrshire singer songwriter wears his heart on his sleeve. Brownbear's lyrics delve deep into his personal struggles and emotions, that resonate hard and long, seeing him championed on Radio 1, Radio2, Radio Scotland, Radio X and others.

It is no surprise that he has worked with the likes of The Libertines, Paolo Nutini & Michael Kiwanuka, building a reputation for a performer who is both enigmatic and engaging.

Brownbear is indie-soul award winning songwriter, Matthew Hickman. Following the release his debut album What Is Home? he toured across the UK & Europe. His latest album Demons is a beautiful collection of tracks with heartfelt meaning behind every lyric, delivered with incredible emotion and is jam packed with melodies that are sure to be stuck in your head for weeks. The album dropped in March of 2023 to widespread acclaim, hitting the Scottish Official Album Chart Top 10 & being longlisted for Scottish Album of the Year.

Brownbear performed a sold-out concert at St Luke's in Glasgow as part of this year's Celtic Connections.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Piano Men Tribute charity fundraiser. What a great night.

Thank you to Gaz Jenkins & Martin Cox (aka Billy & Elton) for the top entertainment. How good are these guys. Think a few folk were convinced they were the real Billy & Elton... 🥳🍷🎹

Thank you to all the businesses who donated a prize for the raffle, with over £650 raised from the raffle alone due to your generosity and that of the audience.

It was an amazing show of support for two great causes, Diamonds in the Community & EK Dementia Carers Group, and something we want to make an annual event with your support. We really do have a very special, compassionate & caring community.
