22 November 2024 is the first Funeral Celebrant Day to raise awareness of the compassionate, hard-working celebrants who support you through one of the hardest times of your life.

Did you know that as an Independent Modern Funeral Celebrant, I am fully autonomous and a self-employed individual.

I am not sub contracted by any funeral director and you can book me directly to give you a personal service from the moment you contact me to after the end of life celebration, memorial or other service you book.

I can officiate in any venue of your choice, from the crematorium chapel, hotel, or out in nature.

Each ceremony I craft is from scratch and can be unique, themed, and personalised to reflect the lifestyle of your loved one from biker days to Peaky Blinders and everything in between.

I offer grief and loss support for you and your family at any time before or after the ceremony

We're encouraging everyone on the Island, whether companies, schools or social groups, to get involved in our Wear Bright for Cruse dress-down day on Friday 6th December 2024.

Wear Bright for Cruse symbolises supporting us as we provide bereavement support to children, young people and adults at one of the most difficult difficult times in their lives. All donations to will help us to continue to help others.

This awareness day is part of the UK National Grief week. The theme this year is Shine a Light so wearing bright colours and supporting us would be amazing.

An extract of the summary of the debate

"Regulation of Officiants Over Venues: The Law Commission recommends shifting the focus from the regulation of buildings to the regulation of officiants. This change could open the door for Independent Celebrants to become legally recognised officiants, allowing them to conduct ceremonies that are both meaningful and legally binding."

On 18th October 2024, the House of Lords debated legal recognition for Humanist weddings while considering broader changes that could include Independent Celebrants in the future.
