Tonight our shoot features in the latest edition of ‘An Essex Wedding’!! A huge congratulations to the team who brought this outdoor, romantic vision to life🍃
This shoot showcased the beauty of an outdoor ceremony and with civil ceremonies in particular becoming more and more popular. We hope it offers some inspiration to those of you who potentially got married during the pandemic with only 2 witnesses, or perhaps those who are residents in another country and decide to bring the party element of your day to the British countryside!
Some of my favourite things about civil ceremonies:
💚as pictured, you can write your own vows encased in a delicate booklet created by
💚often friends can lead the ceremony as opposed to an official registrar/pastor
💚they’re often more relaxed because the ‘legal bit’ is already complete
💚it can be as long or as short as you want. For some of you who don’t like the idea of being centre of attention, short and sweet works a treat but for others of you who have guests flying from around the world to be with you, it allows you to enjoy the memories you’re creating a little more and be innovative with what your ceremony structure includes!

Sometimes you’ve got to trust your heart over your head, because you end up with something as strikingly beautiful as this!
Couple portraits in rowing boats have been more and more popular this wedding season and I’m loving the bravery🚣♂️
AND this shoot at the picturesque is going to feature in the November/December edition of the Essex Wedding magazine later this week😆 !

When I rebranded, I set myself the task of writing two blogs a month and so far…I’ve held myself accountable and brought two new topics to your screens every month. Both T&R are pictured here in their 1st choice of wedding formalwear in front of the gorgeous house . They then both had a change of attire when it came to partying on their wedding day🕺🏼.
As a coordinator, my job is both proactive and reactive to ensure everything on the day itself goes as smoothly as possible; with that, often comes the responsibility of being handed various wedding attire. Usually it’s the veil but in this instance it was Rhys’ work gloves and hat which he proudly wore for their first dance, creating some more epic photo opportunities for Amy!

Hello! It’s me, the person who puts the ‘Lorna’ in Lorna Marie Events🤗 the founder and owner. A true lover of love, (a hopeless romantic as you will), a real people’s person and no.1 fan of autumn and dogs.
I wanted to show my face for three reasons: summer season in the wedding and event industry has meant I have been working tirelessly behind the scenes on numerous special events and therefore haven’t been super active on chatting with you guys; I’ve had some new followers recently so I thought there’s no time like the present to introduce myself to you, aaaand as many of you know, LME just celebrated 5 years in business so I’m feeling good😆
How’s everyone’s week been?
It’s my business’ birthday💝
What an awesome 5 years it’s been. I took a look back on Instagram and 1 October 2018 is when I made my first post on this business profile. Many of you have been a part of the whole 5 years, some of you have only recently joined my journey. Whichever it is, I’m glad you’re here!
Every day I’m learning and continuing to build my business in a way that supports engaged couples and other industry pros in running seamless milestone events; never without a smile.
5 years, and I’m feeling a little bit proud. In that time, I’ve visited countless venues; met some incredible suppliers (some of which are the most talented people I know🤪); worked both as part of a team and independently, to bring different event briefs to life; survived a pandemic; studied (and continue to study for a degree which I started in said pandemic); juggled a full-time job alongside running my business and still, I’ve got so much to give.
I’d be lying if I said my business didn’t occupy 90% of my brain space most of the time but it’s because I mean it when I say, I love what I do. Being given the opportunity to take part in and offer guidance and support to clients with minds busy with ideas of how they’re going to mark their milestone occasion, gives me so much joy.
I’ve always thrived when given responsibility, so give me possibly the most important day of your life to coordinate, and I’ll thank you for it😂

Just like the wedding band, the wedding season can be represented by a circle.
Momentum starts building anytime from around March/April and it creates an awesome whirlwind until September (known as peak season). That’s not to say weddings stop next week as we are only one week away from welcoming October, but the summery vibe starts to dwindle and we welcome the new season of weddings often incorporating rich, autumnal colours, providing blankets for guests and roasting smores round a fire, as part of the evening reception activities.
I worked my final wedding of September yesterday assisting the great later today I’m jetting off to Greece for a week for some last minute sunshine!
That’s not to say I’m finished for the year, I have some more exciting events to work on as we enter the winter months. Some of you may have even seen on my stories that something exciting is dropping on socials for Lorna Marie Events on Sunday 1st October upon my return, so stay tuned and have a great weekend👋🏼

A big trend in both 2022 and 2023 is the wedding cakes made out of cheese, A+A’s was no exception🧀. Intricately decorated with figs, blackberries, grapes and a cake topper; a trend I absolutely hope continues into the plans of my 2024 couples👀

Amongst all the moving parts of your wedding day, take a moment to appreciate what you and your partner have achieved.
Planning a wedding is a huge process; so whether it’s taking a moment to see the table plan in all it’s glory as A+A are pictured doing here, or enjoying the choice of music you agreed on to compliment the guest’s chatter during your drinks reception. Relish the moment because it all plays a part in the journey you and your significant other will embark on🍸

Speeches are pretty traditional but writing it on a Kelloggs box was not🤪
S&M’s wedding celebrations were a week long; they stayed at the beautiful Scarlet Hall in Cheshire surrounded by their favourite people and so when friends and family members wrote their speech in the lead up to the special day, what better to call upon than a Kelloggs box to write on….that’s a memory they’ll never forget🖤

Polaroids at weddings📸
This is a trend I’ve seen more and more people in 2023 incorporate into their special day and why not? These are a selection from M&S’ wedding last March.
It’s usually the moments late into the evening that get captured in a Polaroid picture so the unseen bits can be relived the day after or in the years to come😂. Other ways Polaroids are used is by sticking them in a guest book alongside a message for the happy couple.
I must say it’s a trend I’m on board with! Will you encourage your guests to use a Polaroid picture on your event day?📸

Floral installations are up there with the things I love most when considering decor for an event. Whether it’a over a candlelit dinner, the centre of a marquee or church entrance arch.
It’s no longer about the perfect sphere and more about the meadow-effect, with sprigs of pampas or eucalyptus.
Harder to reuse if you want that eco-friendly vibe but definitely successful in bringing the wow-factor to your day.

Top Tips for confetti throws:
- Keep your chin up
- Try not to open your mouth too wide
- Pause halfway down to kiss (a great photo opportunity!)
- If you’re making up cones, get people to empty the confetti into their hand to throw
- Go into reception drinks after

A lot like your photographer, a list of 20+ group shots doesn’t fill me with joy on wedding days🫢
WHY? Because there’s a fine balance you have to strike between making sure there is the time allowed for them to be captured, as well as enough time allowed for you to mingle with your friends and family.
But a big family photo like this, I’m always a fan of. The sentimental value behind this type of group shot that will come to light as time goes on, makes it invaluable. A picture of all your nearest and dearest; all looking their best and coming together for the occasion. From a planner’s perspective, it’s also a very helpful moment whilst you have everyone’s attention to let them know to take their seats for dinner😆
