What’s your favourite thing about spring? Unsurprisingly mine has got to be the flowers. Seeing the world once again burst into colour is inspiring and so full of hope.

From the crocuses and snowdrops that start to peak through the grass, letting us know that spring is on the way, to the bright, beautiful daffodils announcing it’s arrival, it is a really wonderful time of year, full of new promise. So it’s no wonder that so many decide to plan a spring wedding.

There are so many wonderful choices of wedding flowers in spring, from bright and bold tulips to wonderfully fragrant lilacs or sweet and delicate lily of the valley. What’s your favourite spring flower? Let us know below 👇

As we are finally starting to see some little promising hints of spring sunshine, it’s a great time to start to bring the spring vibes to our homes too. One of my favourite ways to welcome spring is with a spring wreath on the front door. After a long, cold winter, the pop of colour is welcoming and inviting.

Inside, taking sprigs of some early springs flowers is a great way to chase away the winter shadows and bring some colour to your home. Don’t worry if you don’t have empty vases lying around a mason jar, an empty jam jar, even an old teacup or jug will be the perfect home for a bunch of spring poses.

Sticks of twisted willow in a vase are perfect for hanging cute, springtime decorations and make a wonderful centrepiece for your table.

A common question from our wedding couples is 'How much do wedding flowers usually cost?'

There is a huge amount of variability when it comes to wedding flower prices. But don't worry, our experience and knowledge will help you land on the budget to suit you. After all, it’s your day and your wedding should reflect your taste and style, whether that's 'instagrammable' or not!

Most of our couples spend between £1800 - £2800 on their wedding flowers and we we suggest a starting point of 10-15% of your total budget for the day. You can really spend as much or as little as you choose but if statement flowers, lots of arrangements and multiple venues are going to be part of your celebration then we would recommend a larger allocation of budget. From our experience over the years we've found that 25-30% of your total budget if flowers are a significant component of your plans for the day.

The last few years have seen more people opting for low-key over opulence when it comes to their wedding. But low-key or non-traditional weddings don’t have to forgo flowers altogether.

Recently we’ve worked with a few couples who have chosen to hold the wedding ceremony and/or wedding breakfast at their home. In these cases the floral designs have been key to transforming the “venue” from their family home into a wedding location that really represents the couple. We always try to include any unique items that the couple wants. Like the wedding for Sarah and Chris, both the bride and groom worked on cruise ships so the designs we used for their home were full of shine and sparkle, complete with disco balls and feather plumes.

For other couples, “low-key” might mean steering away from more traditional wedding flowers. But there are still wonderful eye-catching designs we can use that will bring the finishing touches to your day and the venue. Using succulents and foliage instead of traditional flowers can make stunning bouquets and centrepieces with the added benefit of sustainability and providing long lasting gifts to give to guests at the end of the day.

We’ve also found that traditional “filler” flowers can make a surprisingly striking statement when used effectively. Votives filled with gypsophila can make delicate and chic centrepieces and using hearty green foliage instead of large displays of blooms can bring a earthy, bohemian vibe to your non-traditional wedding day.

According to the Pantone Color Institute, 2024’s colour of the year is Peach Fuzz.

Described as “an appealing peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange”, the softness of the shade is feminine and sensual giving a sense of warmth and calmness.

Peach Fuzz is a wonderful choice for brides looking to be on trend this year. You can bring in this poetic and romantic shade with sensuous fabrics used as table dressings or chair bows or choose flowers in this delicate shade. Use a few peach flowers for a light hint of colour in your floral designs or make a statement by using only peach flowers.

There are lots of flowers that come in this lovely shade. Choose from dahlia, roses, alstroemeria, gladiolus, amaryllis, and tulips to name a few!

Will you be going all in on the Peach Fuzz trend?

One of my favourite parts of being a luxury wedding florist is arriving on the morning of the wedding to personally deliver the bouquets and buttonholes to the wedding party. We will have finished the setup and checked every tiny detail before we get to see the wedding party on this very special day. Over the course of a few months planning the wedding flowers we really get to know all our couples. I love seeing it all come to fruition and feel the excitement building when we arrive to provide those finishing touches to the bridal party's outfits.

See lots of examples of our work here on Facebook and visit my website to enquire about your upcoming wedding. I've got some availability for the next few months but 2024 is fast becoming another busy year for the Amega Fleur team 💗

One of the questions we get asked by many wedding couples is 'Do you offer hire items or do I need to supply my own vases?'

And the answer is yes! We do offer a range of hire items – vases, ceremony archways, chandeliers, various styles of candleholders, lanterns, petal basket with stand, tall plinths, urns, votives, kiln-dried log slices, candelabras, and white blossom trees.

We will create your vision using a variety of props and items that help showcase your beautiful flowers. This can all be discussed during our first meeting where we pinpoint your style and aspirations for the day. We'll then include any vases and other hire items in our moodboard and when providing our pricing so that you can pick and choose what works best for you.

Are you hoping to capture a first look between father and daughter on your wedding day? This tradition is a beautiful moment planned, and usually photographed or even filmed, to remember forever. The father of the bride will often not have seen the wedding outfit before this special moment so it's becoming more and more popular as a way of capturing this emotionally-charged part of the day.

Here we see the father of the bride, dressed to impress, complete with beautiful buttonhole flowers as he is about to see his daughter for the first time on her wedding day. Whether you have a father figure or not, a first look can be created with any special member of your wedding party, even the groom!

Will you be doing a 'first look' on your wedding day?

Hi I'm Felicity and it's been a while since I've talked about how much I love creating the perfect wedding flowers for couples in and around Essex. My passion brings design, creativity and energy to your visions and my knowledge and years of experience will help you land on a style, budget and end result that is a true reflection of you.

When we work together I will:

✅ Meet you virtually, at my studio or even at your wedding venue to explore your personal style and aspirations for your wedding flowers.
✅ Create a personal mood board, with sketches, flower suggestions and an estimate of the costs involved.
✅ Take a deposit with a 'Save the date' and book you into my diary.
✅ Discuss and tweak your proposal about two months before the wedding day.
✅ Take payment and personally order all of the flowers.
✅ Setup everything at the venue with my team, oversee every detail and even personally deliver the bouquets and buttonholes to your wedding party.
✅ We can also stay and move your designs from the Ceremony to the Wedding Breakfast and then into the Reception area too!

My aim is to help you discover your own individual wedding style and create beautiful floral designs using the highest quality flowers and foliage. From the smallest of buttonholes to the largest of venue decorations, everything you can think of will be covered in our initial conversations and you can truly relax knowing your wedding flowers are in the safest hands. "I can't thank Amega Fleur enough for the amazing job they did on our wedding day. From our initial consultation, I knew I wanted Felicity to be our florist. She took the time to listen to all my ideas and helped to build a package within our budget. She's personable, informative and really easy to chat to. I couldn't have achieved such stunning results without her expertise and suggestions. On the day, everything was perfect. There was even added touches I hadn't even thought of which tied into our colour scheme perfectly. I would 100% recommend using Amega Fleur for all of your floristry needs! Thank you so much for your wonderful contribution to our special day."

In this hanging cloud of peonies, roses, spirea, and tulips we blended the beautiful pinks and creams with the sage green foliage. This modern take on a rustic design is just one example of the floral displays we can create for your wedding.

One of the questions we get asked by many wedding couples is 'Are some flowers only available during some months of the year?'

And the answer is yes! Flowers of course grow seasonally, for example Peonies are usually only available for a few weeks from May to the middle of June. Sunflowers bloom from July to as late as October. Tulips are available usually from March to May.

Mother nature and weather conditions have a significant impact on availability of flowers. The length and temperature of a winter, how much rain there is in the early weeks of spring and other factors can affect the growing season of many UK flowers. Also, it can change from year to year so we pride ourselves on having a true understanding of the flowers available when we discuss your designs with you. Not only that, but our experience and knowledge means that we can tweak our plans if necessary and create stunning designs out of almost anything!

Today is and the perfect time to celebrate your female friendships.

Since 2010 when it appeared in an episode of Parks and Recreation, Galentine's Day has evolved from a fictional holiday to a worldwide recognition of the incredible bond between a girl and her friends. Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler's character) famously said: “It’s only the best day of the year! Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it—breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”

What are you doing this Galentine's Day? Tag your most celebrated friends 👇

As we slowly roll through the first few weeks of 2024 you might be counting down the months for your upcoming special day. Whether you have a date booked or you are hoping for a 2025 wedding we're here to help.

When it comes to planning your wedding flower budget we've got years of experience and we suggest that your floral budget should be approximately 10-15% of your overall planned spend for the wedding. This of course depends on your vision and aesthetic, you might need to look at earmarking up to 20-25% of the total budget if you are looking for instagrammable designs, intricate displays or getting married in a large venue with need for many arrangements.

As a very rough ball park, most of our couples in 2023 spent between £1850 and £2800 but this figure fully depends on your preferences, available funds and your own personal taste and style.

For more information you can contact me via the website and read more about budgets from £600 to £7000 in our blog https://www.amegafleur.co.uk/post/wedding-flower-budgets

Here at the Amega Fleur studio we are surrounded by colour and beautiful blooms as we're working with flowers and planning out floral designs all week long.

It's the part of the job that I love to take home though and enjoying flowers in your house or workplace is a great way to add some colour to the otherwise dreary winter months.

My favourites for January days are Daffodils, Anemones, Amaryllis and Tulips. What are your favourites to brighten up the grey winter days?

What do we mean when we say luxury florist? Everyone’s idea of luxury will be different, it could be down to the materials used or the time someone dedicates to the designs. But for team Amega Fleur, being a luxury florist is about the whole process, from start to finish.

Whether we are creating your perfect vision for your wedding, supporting you with flowers as you say goodbye to a loved one, or even sending a floral surprise to someone, we always ensure that working with us feels like something special. We do this by ensuring we work closely with you to ensure your thoughts, ideas, and wants are included and considered at every step.

And for us the job doesn’t stop when the designs are ready. From personally delivering the floral displays to venue dressing and moving the flowers as needed, we make sure every aspect of your event that includes our designs runs as smoothly as possible.

Being a part of your special event is an honour we don’t take lightly. For this reason, we ensure that the service we provide always exceeds expectations. That’s what luxury means to us.

03/01/2024

Growing plants and flowers is incredibly rewarding and I'm proud to say that I use homegrown foliage and flowers where possible in my designs. I also choose blooms that are in season as much as I can because when they are naturally at their best they are stronger, bigger, and more beautiful.

I was moved by the story of a grandpa in America who tended a garden of long-stemmed red cockscomb flowers for 40 years before cutting them to be used at his granddaughter's wedding. She posted about it on social media and very quickly went viral!

What a lovely way to be included in someone's wedding and with such beautiful blooms as well. The cockscomb flower (Celosia argenta) is named for the red variety's similarity to the cock’s comb on a rooster’s head. An annual flower traditionally grown in red has also been seen to bloom in yellow, pink, orange, and white when growing wild in the equatorial tropics of Africa, Asia, and South America. Not a bloom that we've used in our wedding work before but one that certainly packs a punch when it comes to colour.
