💭 What are your memories of The Speech House Hotel?

From the days when it was a hunting lodge for King Charles II in 1669 to a short while later, when the first recorded use of the Court was in 1676 where the crimes of the forest were brought to justice, the history of the hotel is part of the charm.

In 1858 it was let out as an Inn by the Court and the rest is history, the hotel is now run by the Hands family.

Here’s how we have been, and are continuing to improve The Speech House Hotel for you, our guests:

🔍 We have redecorated our Toby Bar and featured new historic letters, pictures and more on the walls.

⚔️ There is a beautiful new coat of arms sign outside to welcome you to our hotel.

🫧 We have renovated numerous bathrooms for our residents

🛏️ There will soon be new carpets in many of the bedrooms

🔨 We will also be laying a new wooden flooring in the main corridor

☀️ Solar panels have been installed ontop of the Edwin Tauber suite, providing clean energy to the hotel.

As 2024 draws to a close, we are reflecting on just some of the fantastic highlights the year gave us, were you part of them?

🏅 We achieved a 'Highly Commended' award for Hotel of the Year with SoGlos

🏵️ The hotel maintained two AA rosettes and improved the merit score to 80%

💷 We raised money for charity throughout the year, the latest being £220 for The Forest Foodbank with our Gonk competition

🕊️ There were many weddings held at the hotel, we hope the couples have had a magical first year of marriage

🍽️ We launched two new menus which went down brilliantly with our guests and diners.

🔨 Renovations were completed at the hotel including numerous new bathrooms and a reading room for our guests to escape to.

🐾 Ludo joined our Pet Division team alongside Luca, helping to look after our four-legged guests.

🍾 From Tequila to Champagne, we held tasting events at the end of the year with partners such as Matthew Clark and Champagne Taittinger that were brilliant fun, very tasty, informative and enjoyed by all.

Fancy joining us over Christmas? You don’t need to be a resident to enjoy our Orangery menu or a festive drink in the bar!

The hotel will be closed from the 5th of January at 4pm until the 11th of January at 12pm to carry out hotel maintenance and complete team training.
