The North West 200 is Ireland’s largest outdoor sporting event, attracting crowds in excess of 150,000 as well as the biggest names in the sport, Hickman, Hillier, McGuinness, Johnston, Seeley & Irwin. The Briggs Equipment North West 200 depends upon its team of dedicated and hard working volunteers to get the event up and running each May. Four of those volunteers- Sean Canney, Jim McCotter, Peter McCotter and Mervyn Lyttle- were awarded with watches for their long standing contribution to the sport at the Coleraine and District Motor Club's final meeting of 2024 in the Lodge Hotel last week. Jim Gordon, who was unable to attend on the night, will also receive a watch.
PBM Ducati Crew Chief Ryan Rainey was on hand to perform the honours following a fascinating talk on his work with one of Britain's leading race teams and his own racing career which saw the Co. Antrim man win two Irish championships.
