Huge congratulations to Saffron Montgomery on winning NI Travel News, Travel and Tourism student of the year and becoming a finalist for the Institution of Hospitality student management potential award. Saffron has being completing her placement in our Race Office since January and will be back soon for a few days per week while she completes her final year of studies. We are all very proud of her and what she has achieved and no doubt she has a bright future ahead of her.

Following consultation with the Department of Infrastructure on plans to introduce a cycle path from Ballysally Roundabout to University Corner, on the outskirts of Coleraine, the organisers of the Briggs Equipment North West 200 have engaged a team of officials and some of the North West 200s leading competitors to ensure the proposed construction work will not have any negative impact upon the stretch of road which is used as part of the NW200 race course each May.
Glenn Irwin, Peter Hickman, Alastair Seeley and Steve Plater joined Mervyn Whyte, Stanleigh Murray, Stephen Burns, NW200 Event Safety Consultant and Christy O'Neill of Event Solutions at the site this week to discuss the proposed plans and recommendations before the work commences.

Claire Lomas (44), a disabled campaigner who raised almost £1 million for spinal research after she was paralysed when she broke her neck, back and ribs in a horse riding accident in 2007, has died following an accident in Jordan in the Middle East, her family have said.
In 2023 Ms Lomas, from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, completed a fundraising lap of the North West 200 road race course on her motorcycle.
“Claire was such a genuine, lovely lady who did so much for charities after her accident.” Mervyn Whyte of the NW200 said.
“We all witnessed Claire’s determination to complete her lap of the NW200 course last year and shared in her delight on her achievement. It is so hard to believe that we have now lost her in this tragedy. Everyone at the North West 200 would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Claire’s family and friends at this sad time.”

2025 BRIGGS EQUIPMENT NORTH WEST 200 DATES ANNOUNCED

The 2025 Briggs Equipment North West 200 Race Week will take place on 5-10 May.
The new qualifying format debuted at the 2024 event, that saw Superbike competitors first on track during both sessions, will be retained for the Wednesday and Thursday sessions.
Thursday’s qualifying sessions will be followed by three four lap Superbike, Supersport and Superstock races during the evening.
Saturday’s main race day will again feature two Superbike and two Supertwin races plus Superstock and Supersport events.

All of us at the Briggs Equipment North West 200 are devastated today to hear of the death of a valuable and long serving member of our team. Valerie Crichton along with her husband John and members of their family have been running our Race Control for several decades and Valerie has also served as our Child Safeguarding Officer for many years. Our deepest sympathy is extended to John, Rhonda and all of their family circle at this sad time.

The leathers he wore when he won his last Isle of Man TT have been stolen from the TT paddock fan zone. If any of you hear of their whereabouts please message us or contact the IOM police.
