Our Autumn wreath workshop date went out yesterday at Hooton Pagnell church. It’s with the lovely Kate from Fox Farm Flowers so we can share the joy & also workload as it’s not easy getting buckets up those church steps 😵‍💫

It’s British Flowers Week all this week 🇬🇧🌸

This photo is from one of my workshops two years ago during & shows a rose filled bowl created by a student which I think is just gorgeous & smelled exquisite ✨

It’s a week to celebrate how blessed we are to have access to flowers grown by passionate, determined & very very very hard working small scale flower farmers who use organic methods so we don’t have to handle flowers covered in pesticides. They grow flowers that are scented & interesting, ones you won’t find in supermarkets. If you go to Flowers From The Farm website you will find a list of these very people. Treat yourself to a bunch - or a bucket or why not book on a workshop with Kate where you can spend a couple of hours in her new studio creating with flowers grown just a few metres from the window 🌷

Come & make a beautiful meadow box in this 2 hour workshop at new flower studio near Pen*stone South Yorkshire.

Based at Kate’s flower farm in the beautiful countryside spend a Sunday afternoon immersed in seasonal, scented & unusual flowers grown by Kate a stone’s throw away from the door.

No experience needed, perfect for complete beginners or those more experienced who want a few hours of flower filled therapy in a haven of calm.

All materials are provided including scissors & aprons. You will arrange your flowers in a lovely vintage Indian brick mould that is yours to keep & reuse (works well as a condiments container, for storing washing up paraphernalia, odds & ends or a clutter hiding box, or simply keep adding fresh flowers & foliage all year round ☺️).

Home made refreshments are included & hopefully Kate’s delicious lemon iced biscuits - a recipe handed down from her Grandma 🍥🍋

It’s a very intimate workshop with just 4 spaces - we are very friendly so it’s fine to come on your own you will be well looked after 🥰 or come with a friend - vouchers are available if you’d like to give this as a gift.

Please note the flowers will be arranged using natural methods without the use of floral foam & all Kate’s flowers are grown in peat free compost and without the use of any sort of w**d or bug killer - pesticides or herbicides as it’s much kinder to bees, butterflies, mini beasts, humans, the planet 💚 🍃

Faffing with a bespoke wreath order until it’s just perfect - on my favourite door at Hooton Pagnell church.

I can’t decide whether I like making bespoke wreaths the best or doing workshops - I think it’s both. I love picking interesting textures & shapes & combing them together to make something really unique, but I also get so much joy selecting ingredients & watching people on the workshops make something totally different to each other. Seeing the people who think they aren’t creative realise that they are & make something beautiful they are proud of makes me a very happy bunny. Today was very magical with lovely returning customers. We went moss-less & used hardy foliage on willow bases as I’m constantly looking for ways to be more sustainable. See Stories for some pics ✨

For those that don’t know, I closed my flower studio at the end of August & stepped down as Regional Co-ordinator for Flowers From The Farm North East. I’m also stepping back from full on flowering for the time being.

Pre-existing bookings are not affected & wreath workshops are still a go-go.

It was great to be back in the church with the sunlight streaming in, but feels odd not to be popping round to mum’s to give the key back & have a chat. Really missed her baking too😏

An autumnal table centrepiece for a Black Tie charity Butterfly Ball tonight. I’ve just placed it in situ with a hurricane vase & candle, surrounded by smaller candles 🕯️ 💫 Read on if you’d like to know what the ball is raising funds for - I have pasted part of an email I received back in May 💔 I hope they reach their target 🙏🏼

“My name is Rhian and I am one of the bereavement midwives at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals. It is my role to support all families that have had the heartache of losing a baby, whether this be in pregnancy or following birth. Sadly, this is something that happens too often, but many people are unaware of this as it is still a taboo subject, as it hurts too much to talk about.

As you may or may not be aware from the Trusts social media coverage, we are currently running the ‘Serenity Suite Appeal’ to further help support our families. At present, families over 16 weeks of pregnancy have the added heartache of not only being told their baby has died, but then have to attend our delivery suite for their labour cares. Sadly, these rooms are not soundproofed, and these families are subjected to the added pressure of hearing the noisy working environment – hearing emergency buzzers sounding, hustle and bustle of daily activity in a busy unit, and sadly they are also subjected to hearing the joy of other families welcome their crying baby into the world.

The Serenity Suite will be a dedicated, purpose-built, self-contained apartment style room that will be located away from the busy delivery unit. This suite will be soundproofed, and will provide everything that a family will require to stay there comfortably during their time in hospital, in their time of need, to give the family time to say hello whilst preparing to say goodbye to their new born baby.”

l have a space become available on the sustainable farewell flowers course next week Thursday 13th July, 10am at my flower studio in Loversall in South Yorkshire. Easy access from the A1, M1, M18 & just in the outskirts of Doncaster.

You will make a natural tied sheaf, a coffin spray & a wreath. All made without foam & using locally grown/British flowers & foliage. Suitable for natural burial grounds & those wanting a more natural, sustainable & planet friendly farewell tribute. You will cost your work & I will share my knowledge on how to talk with families & funeral directors. My beautiful willow coffin will be available for you to take photos throughout the day for your portfolio. A light lunch & refreshments throughout the day is included as are all flowers & materials. Suitable for flower growers, florists & students wishing to learn how to create funeral flowers without foam (or anyone wanting to spend the day in a calm environment creating with natural flowers).

If you book & pay in full direct with me (rather than the website) the cost is £275. The place will go to first person to enquire & pay 🍃

Happy hump day 🐫 Yesterday was spent humping things around from my current workshop into my new flower studio. There was loads of “stuff”!!!! Thank you to my landlord Chris & friend Dawn for helping me - & to the two random chaps minding their own business getting into their van that I grabbed to help lift a heavy cupboard! 😂🙏🏼I’ve just dumped it all inside and am psyching up the oomph to go and sort it out this weekend. I rather enjoyed driving a big van around and felt a sense of entitlement that I should take priority over other vehicles 😆 although my euphoria was slightly tinged with anxiety about the massive insurance excess 🙈 I have to say I’m relieved it’s all done with the only damage being a bruised knee & a sore back. I don’t have capacity at the moment to do any flowers as everything is packed away but I will let you know when I’m up & running. I am very thrilled to announce that I now have running water in new studio!!!!! I’ve had a flash of inspiration & decided to offer garland making on my workshop on Saturday 17th December at All Saints Church, Hooton Pagnell, DN5, South Yorkshire. (it’s about 8 miles from Doncaster, 20 miles from Sheffield & 27 miles from Leeds). You will make a 2ft garland from beautiful evergreens & add cones, berries & dried materials. The cost is £55 per person & those already booked on to make a wreath can switch to a garland. This coffin tribute was made up of 9 individual jars of flowers so it can be taken apart & used to decorate the venue & then shared out with the family. The jars are nestled into a moss base on a biodegradable tray & made up of locally grown flowers mostly from @foxfarmflowersuk, some from the patch & wild buttercups & cow parsley from the hedgerows. Hello and welcome to my page.

I’m Hannah, an interior designer, a qualified florist and fledgling cut flower grower based in South Yorkshire. From my small workshop & flower patch I am passionate about bringing you beautiful, ethical flowers with integrity.

Inspired by nature, the seasons and my love of gardens I offer bespoke, untamed country garden style gift bouquets, flowers for the home, seasonal wreaths and planters, eco-friendly sympathy tributes and wedding flowers. I can deliver up to 15 miles of S65.

I am passionate about using seasonal, artisan flowers in my work. During the spring and summer months the flowers I use are often grown by me, or sourced from a network of local and British growers which I have access to as a member of Flower From The Farm. This supports independent local businesses and reduces the miles your flowers have to travel.
