It's time to get wavey at the biggest party of the summer - Wavefest. We spoke to Shardai from .talent to hear how they like to party!☀️🥳

What was the idea behind the party?
It was our work summer party and it was nice because we had used the rooftop before but this time we wanted to do something bigger with a theme of a summer festival. Our last summer party, which was tikki-themed, was very vendor light but this time we wanted to be vendor-heavy.

How often do you get to celebrate with your team?
We have big parties for summer and Christmas and go out every quarter for a meal together so socialising is important for us. It's pivotal for our team to get a chance to socialise.

What was your favourite part of the event?
Probably the DJs. Unfortunately, they weren't booked on Poptop, but I was told they were popular ones. I didn't know them, but I came to know their music was good!

How long did it take you to plan?
It's just me who plans it. I normally start 6 months in advance but this is just creating a basic plan and I properly start planning 3 months before the event. I do enjoy it but it can be time-consuming such as working with the venue, all the vendors, organising drinks and more it just becomes quite time-consuming. I do want to say that all the vendors that came from Poptop were great. They came fully prepared, and some of them even helped out with other parts of the party and not just their station.

Any last words?
Everyone had a great time, it was really fun. Also, shout out to the photographer, Adam, he was a great touch. We loved his photos!

Move over Olympics - the only competition is in the office. 🤾‍♂️

Check out this awesome office sports day that we helped make possible and find out how it went with Toyin from Greenpark Digital.🎖️

What was the idea behind the party?
It was our company's summer social that we have every year. Usually, they involve a bit of drinking, but this year we wanted to be more active so we revived our old sports day that we did before Covid.

How competitive is your office?
Everyone is so competitive so it makes sports day the perfect way to relieve some office stress/tension.

How valuable is it to get your team out and do something like this?
It's a great way for our team to relax and engage with each other. We have socials every month or so, but our main ones are Summer and Xmas.

What was the best part of the day?
The announcement of the winners. Everyone seemed to claim they were the winner. I've got to mention the bean bag throw, those bean bags seemed to bring out the most competitive nature out of everyone.

How was the party overall?
Everyone had a really good time, they all enjoyed the food and the music from DJ Lee. Despite the rain, we all had fun.

Do you have any future party plans?
Halloween is our next main one then Xmas - in between you have random socials. Every other month we have something planned to keep everyone social. Since we're a digital marketing agency having that social side is super important.

Come with us as we take a look at one of our favourite parties of the summer so far with Aleksandra from the Oceandusk group! 🥳

What was the idea behind the party?

We're a travel agency that works with 5-star hotels in London and Europe and every summer we host a party for our staff and partners to get to meet each other and have some fun.

How long did it take to plan?

Oooh, since March, so 4-5 months. It was the first time planning it myself as I have just helped previously but I led the organising this year. Poptop was a major help because I found everyone so easily and could message them on the platform. It just made life easier for me.

How did you think the party went?

It was really fun. It was a beach-themed party hosted in a hotel with an outdoor beach area so that worked really well. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

How important is it for you to have a party for your staff?

We have a Summer and Christmas party every year. We use the Summer party to celebrate our partners and it gives our staff a chance to meet the people they talk to on the phone every day. The Christmas party is a different vibe as it's just our staff so it lets them have some fun.

How does it help alleviate stress and bring them together for a morale boost?

Oh yeah, definitely. It helps everyone loosen up, lets them dress up and allows them to meet people in person which they don't normally get to do. It's a great way to give our staff a chance to have some fun and reward them for their hard work.

What was the highlight of the party for you?

Oh, I found it stressful more than anything since I was organising but I loved the magician, Connor. I think it was better than last year's party!

What's better than a birthday? A SURPRISE WEDDING! 👰

We were lucky enough to see Sharon & Stu's wedding/birthday extravaganza come to life in the heart of Newcastle...St James Park!

Guests were dumbfounded when they originally arrived to celebrate Stu's big 60th celebration only to find Sharon in a wedding dress. Sharon had this to say,

"We had already planned a big celebration for Stu's 60th and we thought let's get married with about 3 weeks to go to the event. We've been together for 15 years and always planned on getting married, so we finally decided to do it!"

We were beyond thrilled to help bring Sharon and Stu's event to life, by helping provide entertainment like the fabulous Rebecca from Rebel Events Entertainment who provided gravity-defying stilt walking.🎪

We sat down for 5 minutes with Anthony from Yellow Bus Catering Company to talk about his love of American school buses...oh and his amazing street food business!

- What inspired you to start your own business? 🤔

I used to run a restaurant and coming out of lockdown I had a stupid idea of buying an American school bus and selling pizza out of it. Now, I've got three of them. The main one serving pizza, the second burgers and the new one will be serving mac n' cheese.

- Why an American school bus?

I love America and its culture. I was inspired by the New York Style pizza and I went there to learn how to make it. A lot of street food vendors use either an H van or a converted horsebox and I thought they lacked something unique.

- How hard was it to get a bus?

It was hard. I had to import it from upstate New York and it took 30 days by boat!

- What would you say is the most popular food?

Sometimes we get more bookings for pizza or burgers - it has phases for both. I would say that we're most known for pizza.

- What food is your favourite?🍕🍔?

Well, my favourite food is actually marmite cheesy garlic bread but that's a whole other thing. (We'll try not to judge you, Anthony. 👀)

- What advice do you have for someone getting into the events business?

Don't underestimate. A lot of the time, the event is actually the easy part. It's the logistics that's difficult. For example, we've done Leeds festival and the event itself was easy but the prep was difficult.

- Do you have a favourite event?

We had an event last year that went viral on TikTok. We helped take over Canary Wharf to make it like a street in New York. We served 200 slices a day. It got so busy we had to take a break for an hour, as we made everything fresh, and everyone happily waited so they could get a slice. It was amazing!

- Do you have any goals for the future?

I'd like to do something like Glastonbury at least once. I generally want to get the business to a place where we don't have to take every event offered.
