There is plenty to experience at Charterhouse as part of 🥳

Enjoy a free guided tour through the house to unlock its fascinating history and visit our free family friendly community festival as part of the Coventry Big Bike Ride.

Activities include:
Storytelling and book signing with Coventry Children’s book author Aaron Ashmore
The Bewonderment Machine, a cycle powered carousel for the under 5’s
The Whittingham inspired orange marble run with Ludic Rooms
The Gardens Trust lucky dip activity
A QR code archaeology trail, revealing what is really beneath your feet
The British Cycling activity zone, Crazy bike arcade and community cycling stalls
Festival food and drinks from Purnell’s at Charterhouse and other vendors.
Live music, face painting and giant bubbles!

Bhangra rock band, Kissmet and one of the UK’s top chamber orchestras, Orchestra of the Swan join forces as Bhangra Symphonica to present a breath taking fusion of music and dance, story-telling and mesmerising spirituality. On this day (8 November) in 1832, Drapers' Hall officially opened for the very first time. In two days time, we're hosting Kansas Smitty's for a special show celebrating a year since Historic Coventry Trust reopened Drapers' after extensive restoration works, as a centre for music and music education. Our friends at Warwick Arts Centre also have an anniversary celebration coming up! They will be marking 15 years of the ground-breaking, independent record label Erased Tapes with a special, one-off concert featuring electronic producer Rival Consoles, folk-minimalist collective Penguin Cafe , English songsmith Douglas Dare and Japanese vocal artist Hatis Noit.

Drapers' Hall is proud to be part of New Music Biennial this weekend, a three-day festival giving you the chance to hear all new pieces of music across a wide range of genres. From classical and chamber opera to jazz, from folk to electronica, it's all coming to Coventry!

Of the 20 pieces of music, 10 are brand new works selected from an open call, the remaining 10 New Music Biennial works are chosen from the last 10 years, to mark a decade since its launch back in 2012.

We are very excited to be one of three venues taking part in New Music Biennial as part of Coventry UK City of Culture 2021, alongside hmv Empire Coventry and Coventry Cathedral. The three-day festival will give you a chance to hear music across a range of genres, from classical and chamber opera, to jazz, folk and electronica.

The six pieces at Drapers’ Hall spanning the weekend 21-23 April will feature work by Arlene Sierra, Brian Irvine and Jennifer Walshe , Jason Yarde, Yazz Ahmed, Roopa Panesar and Jessica Curry.
