Just a little update on what has been happening at the Memorial Hall recently. The unsafe wall is down and the blocks are piled, waiting to be crushed in the next couple of weeks. The scrap metal is awaiting collection by Tranter's hopefully this week (please, we need the space). The kiddies playpark will be fenced in, although it might be the autumn before we can get it done properly. (Availability of contractor). The tarmac tennis court area will remain so can still be used for ball games in the immediate future but what do you want there eventually?

A modern, Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) would be wonderful but they are expensive. Think £40k+. Not impossible but to have any chance of a grant of that magnitude we would need to demonstrate that the whole community was fully behind the idea and pushing for such a facility, with probably some specific fundraising thrown in as well, as a contribution.
We need some active sports people to get involved to help drive it and whip up enthusiasm locally. Packing that into a grant bid would certainly increase our chances of success.
We can't do it all ourselves, there just aren't enough of us on the Hall Committee, given all the other things going on as well.

A sub committee, dedicated to the idea, may be the answer. Is anyone up for it?

Jane Pugh from Jane's Petals Bishops Castle will be doing one of her amazing singing floral demos on Friday 9th December at the memorial hall, there will be a few craft stalls to browse and shop with as well as a raffle to include 5 flower arrangements from Jane.
£10 a ticket to include a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. Pop a message to order.

Next Tuesday (11th Oct) a couple of our committee members will be down at the park and BMX area strimming and raking. We would really love some extra hands to help volunteer with either strimming or raking. We will be meeting at 11am. Many thanks.

Clun Memorial Hall and Playing Fields Charity Committee have an urgent need for a new Treasurer.

The current Treasurer wants to stand down as soon as possible. It is hoped that someone in the local community with experience of being a Treasurer, or with the time and willingness to learn the requirements of the role will volunteer.

Due to licensing issues, the recently listed film ‘Bernie’ will not be screened as initially advertised. Instead, we will be screening the recent big screen debut of Downton Abbey.
