Dear Helen, dear Stewart, (I would write “ dear Gareth” and “ dear Barrie, but I don’t know those emails!)
I was completely bowled over by the production on Friday evening. It’s one of the most amazing plays I’ve seen.
The intensity of deep emotion in your performances was palpable…the angst painful. The balance between the three characters was absolutely perfect, totally believeable and very moving. You clearly got to know them well! I felt so conflicted much of the time…just like them.
It was a deeply moving experience and, I reflected, particularly poignant, as the G7 summit is now taking place in Hiroshima!
I also learnt a great deal of science which I’d never had the opportunity to study at school as thé timetable clashed with the subjects I was really interested in and went on to study further. The way you conveyed the logic of it all was remarkable. Again, serendipity: the day before, I had spent much of a train journey to London listening to a young mum opposite explaining chemical symbols to her daughter and feeling so impressed…and so foolish…in equal measure. How you learnt all that scientific info…and interpreted it so convincingly was totally amazing…much respect to you all!
I thought the set was genius and the moving around so telling and prophetic at times. The groupings were, in themselves, telling the story.
I’m still processing much and I feel that will continue for some time.
Thank you all so much for the opportunity to share in this wonderful evening. I truly felt that, if everybody in the UK saw it, our country would have a much better chance of understanding it’s proper place in Europe and the World.
I hope you will all have a chance to rest and reflect on what must have been a life-changing experience.
With all good wishes,
Franki
