A coming together of Pearl’s wildly experimental nature and Roberta’s highly thoughtful work, this will be an immersive one of a kind day exploring art direction and creative process within floristry.

Located in the heart of the English countryside, in a secret location, the focus of the day will be large scale installation and table design, as we explore the blurred line between AI and reality.

On June 26th, META launches its new AI generative features. This means it will be mining your images, thoughts and work for content.⁠
⁠
I saw a few stories on this recently, but if you want to opt out, you need to change your settings.⁠
⁠
In the UK, we are protected by privacy laws that make it possible to object, but they’ve not made it very simple. It took me about two minutes once I figured it out.⁠
⁠
Here’s how:⁠
⁠
1. Go to the three lines in the top right-hand corner.⁠
2. Go to "About."⁠
3. Go to "Privacy Policy."⁠
4. Use the search function. Type ‘how Meta uses information for generative AI models and features.’⁠
5. Scroll all the way to the blue text which says ‘Learn more and submit request here.’⁠
⁠
It will take you to your linked Facebook account.⁠
⁠
Then a form will open up titled ‘Data subject rights for third party information,’ and you can choose to ‘delete personal information from third parties used for building and improving AI and Meta.’⁠

Click "Send Form."⁠

Tablescaping (noun)

Curating unique tables is at the heart of our design process. When we first sit down to consider a brief, these are questions:

~The setting - how can we bring the setting onto the table? We think about how the dining experience sits in the location before choosing any of the details.

~The season- she’s our ultimate guide. Our advice if you’re going to prop with fruit and vegetables, is to use something in season growing near you.

~Negative space - how can we be deliberate in our choices and allow for plenty of space so the flowers and details can be seen & appreciated?

~Choosing flowers actually comes further down the line, once the story and concept are really clear for us. Hope you enjoyed these little insights.

I studied Anthropology and Garden Design before finding my way into floristry.

It all ties together in my head, with people and place firmly in mind.

My time in Lisbon brought so many things home for me; how important flower people are in my life - how we are all so uniquely different and yet have so much in common.

So many thanks to Bosque concept store for hosting and for this intriguing concept of designing a new garden at Palacio do Grilo.

Three days of explorative floristry, theatre, amazing food and deep personal growth. Heart is so full. I feel deeply nourished by this experience and so lucky to travel and meet other journeying florists from all over the world.⁠
⁠
If you’re considering doing something out of your comfort zone, then do it. And find yourself a good teacher who can open the way for you.⁠

A flow of blue hydrangea from a broken font…

It was minus four and I looked up at the freezing blue sky and saw this idea crystallise.

Church flowers are somewhat a nemesis of mine, rarely a place to be playful, but this was super fun to construct. Made using chicken wire and tubes. All recycled.
