💙 💙 YOUNG AT HEART - PEOPLE WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY 💙 💙

Just a few years ago, it was all too common for police to receive reports of youths acting suspiciously on street corners in rural villages in the Mercia beat area.

With few opportunities for young people to meet and have fun, a number of locations experienced anti-social behaviour.

👮 Determined to change matters, a group of far-sighted community-spirited volunteers at the Maple Tree Cafe, at Repton Village Hall, had a vision to improve things by creating a dedicated youth club - and Officer Bob, from Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team, got involved.

😊 Almost two years done the line and the youth club has gone from strength to strength - and that's a big part down to some very special people.

👏 And fine examples of this special commitment to young people are two big-hearted youth club leaders - Keith and Emma (pictured) - who now lead Friday evening sessions for dozens of 11 to 17 year-olds.

And Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is very grateful for the contribution they make to our local community.

✅ Officer Bob says: "It is hard to remember life in the village before the youth club. The children love it, and the community appreciate it. Huge thanks to Keith and Emma for their amazing skills in encouraging young people to have fun in a safe place. The youth club is definitely the place to be on a Friday evening - and the fact that the local community, through the vision of volunteers at the Maple Tree Cafe, are at the heart of its success, is so wonderful."

💙 Well done to everyone who supports the youth club - it is so much appreciated by Derbyshire Constabulary.

Wonderful exhibition on in the village hall over the next few weeks, please come down and see this curated photographic history of Repton. The cafe is open 10-3pm Thursday and Fridays and 9:30-12:30 Saturdays.

🚜🚜 YOUTH CLUB DOWN ON THE FARM 🚜🚜

Thirty children from a local youth club had an amazing experience last night, when they were given a unique insight into the world of farming.

💙 The youngsters - who are members of Repton Youth Club - visited Mercia Milk, a local farm, located on Brook End, in the heart of the village.

👮 As a treat to mark the second year of the youth club, Officer Bob organised the trip, with the kind permission of kind-hearted farmer James and his family - who provided delicious milk shakes for the young people to enjoy.

🐄 Everyone was then invited to hand-feed a host of animals at the farm - including, cows, chickens and goats.

✅ Officer Bob says: "Everyone had a great time yesterday - and it is wonderful to see this community youth club going from strength to strength. In the two years since the youth club was created, anti-social behaviour in the village has dramatically declined. The opportunity for young people to have a space to have fun and engage with others has proved to be a huge success."

👏 Once again, thanks to James and his family - and volunteers Peter, Elaine and Jane from the youth club for supporting yesterday's police partnership visit to the farm!

The Maple Tree Cafe has been open for almost 5 years. Many , many of you tell us what an asset it has been to village life; how vital it is as a community hub; how welcome they feel when they visit; how much they value the community initiatives it has fostered and loads of other very positive comments . Its success is down to a group of volunteers who give of their time freely to make it the successful hub it is. However, we are sad to say it is increasingly difficult for the cafe to operate as it does as we are desperately in need of more volunteers . If YOU could give just 3 hours of your time each month (at a time to fit in with you ) our cafe could continue to be there for YOU and the rest of the community . We are appealing to YOU because we think the Maple Tree is worth it! DO YOU?

Hey Everyone 👋🏻
Have you ever thought, I’ve got too much to do, I haven’t got the time or get in from a long day at work and to be honest can’t be bothered to go back out then I have something to tell you x
This is exactly the time that you need to get on your mat, exactly the time that you need to make that space for you, to take an hour out of your day for you to unwind, relax make your body move and find your breath.
It doesn’t matter if you haven’t been before, did yoga ages ago or just lost yourself in the busy day to day of our lives we all have !!Believe me when I say that you won’t regret it !

Congratulations to Jeremy Bournon and Chris Jerram for an absolutely amazing event at the hall tonight. The hall was filled with people listening to the very talented Remi Harris and Tom Moore.
