Is there a piece of music that takes you to another place?…Whilst setting up & doing some sound / room acoustic checks an hour prior to performing for Bethany & Joshua’s wedding ceremony Quorn Country Hotel, I decided to do a mini recording of a beautiful piece of music written by a Japanese pianist & composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto.Here I perform a personalised arrangement of a film score he had created (Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence) which I first came across approx 15 years ago when I was in my earlier days of discovering the fascinating world of Far East contemporary music. To me, this is a piece of music I choose to play for myself (and others) as every time I do, it brings me right to an incredible sense of calmness and serenity. For anyone who may come across and listen to this, I truly am interested in hearing how this piece may connect with you, and if there may be others out there you go to bring you to a place of inner calmness.
✨Mr Brightside✨The Killers… what do you think of when you hear this? For me this brings me back to all of those great nights out with friends at pubs, bars & clubs! This was always a song that would get me and others jumping, hugging and singing as loud as we can. This theme is one which I had fun playing for a lovely couple Laura & Rhys recently who asked me to add this as one of their music requests to perform during their Wedding Ceremony ☺️ I also enjoyed performing this as a special request for Adam when he was there with Ruby at Haddonhall mercatum when I was there last time. As well as storylines, I’ve been moved by the musical soundtracks that have been created to really enhance the motion pictures we see.One I would pick out is Howard Shore, a Canadian composer, conductor and orchestrator who composed scores for many movies. This is a personal rendition of ‘The Shire’ from the ‘Lord of The Rings’. Such a great week…. Sunshine begins to arrive as we get into the midst of Spring and already looking forward to more! Wanted to share a mini sound clip whilst I was having some fun today at home starting to play this classic from Bill Withers ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’☀️. Part of my preparation as this is one of the songs I have been requested to perform live during a Wedding Ceremony which I am very excited about! This is one of 8 pieces during the Ceremony where I will be creating special arrangements for this as I’ll be covering music as guests arrive and take their seats, as the bride walks down the aisle, as the couple sign the registry and at the end when we all celebrate with the wedded couple!
