On October 5th, Willows Sports Centre is proud to celebrate 30 incredible years of serving the local community. 🌟
This milestone also marks an exciting new chapter with a management buyout by Stewart Edge & James Windscheffel, who will take the reins from the Centre’s long-standing owner, Rick Smith, as he retires.
Since opening its doors in 1994, Willows Sports Centre has been the go-to venue for indoor sports, offering a wide range of activities, including indoor cricket, 5-a-side football, and netball, as well as renowned children’s birthday parties. It also boasts one of the largest lasertag arenas in the UK.
Under Rick Smith’s guidance, the Centre became a cherished part of the community, fostering a love for sports and fitness for people of all ages.
Rick Smith, reflecting on his time as owner, said, “Willows Sports Centre has become an iconic venue in Derby since its beginning 30 years ago and it has been such a pleasure to have been a part of this. I am delighted that Stewart and James will be carrying on the fine traditions of the business. Both have contributed hugely to its success and it is a great comfort to me that Willows will be in such good hands. They are entering this new era with fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm and I am sure that the success story that Willows has been will continue for many years. I would like to thank all the customers and staff who have helped to make Willows such a special place.”
As the Centre enters this new era, we are committed to investing in the facilities and programs to keep Willows Sports Centre a central hub for fitness, sports, and family activities.
