Whissonsett Village Hall

Whissonsett Village Hall Whissonsett Village Hall is used by the local community for clubs and activities and as a venue for parties, entertainment, fetes and visiting productions.

Whissonsett or Witcingkeseta as it was known in the Domesday Book means either the settlement of the Witcing tribe or a place of watery meadows. The village is in a valley on a tributary of the River Wensum with many wells and springs so 'watery meadows' describes it very well. Set in the heart of rural Norfolk, it is situated between the Market Towns of Fakenham and Dereham. Whissonsett is surrou

nded by farm land and orchards; the Village itself encircles a beautiful 14th century Church. It is an idyllic scene, but behind this seemingly timeless picture is the hard work carried out by generation after generation of ordinary Norfolk people to preserve and beautify the church and village they love. With a history dating from the Dark Ages and The Iceni Tribe (Eceni) to Modern times there is a lot more to the Village than first meets the eye.

Tombola prizes are still needed please. It's a big ask, we know so we're asking for some small everyday kind of items. Like a tin of beans, packet soups, or maybe spaghetti hoops etc, prizes like that.
If they are in date and you could spare them, please could you drop them in this box. It's in the porch of Steetley House on the high street. We've been a bit silly and deliberately gone out to buy this tin..🀒 if you do win it, you've got half the ingredients ready for a trick or treat surprise come Halloween.
If you have a tombola donation and are unable to drop it off, please say in the comments and we'll arrange to collect from you.
thank you πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

Some games will cost 50p, and most of those ones you could win a prize.
If you'd like to volunteer yourself or maybe your wife, husband or teenage kids for a stint in the wet sponge 🧽 we'll provide the towels. So, start saving your small change and bring your pound coins and 50p's to the fete 😊

We've had a revamp on the bus timetables, making them easier to read. We have also bought a new board for the bus shelter, and laminated copies of the timetables for you.
Fingers 🀞 this notice board won't be vandalized and thrown into the road like the last one πŸ™„πŸ™„ (annoying)
Double check you are waiting at the correct place for the bus, as they don't all stop at the shelter. One is at the crossroads at the top of London street, another stops opposite the shelter out the front of the white house gate. This just seemed like a logical place to display them for the village, as they are uncover from the weather.
