On Thursday 15th August 2024, Creggan came alive for Lúnasa!
Hundreds of young people and residents came together for a light procession that weaved through the streets of the neighbourhood towards Greenwalk. The procession was led by a spectacular bull constructed over a week by young people from across the neighbourhood along with the artist Brendan Farren. Young people from local clubs including Stmarys Youthclub, Sean Dolans GAC, Rath Mor Warriors - K1/Kickboxing & Fitness Gym., Oakleaf Boxing Club, Trojans YCG and St Mary's Scouts carried flags, banners and lanterns dressed in costume by North-West Carnival Initiative.
At Greenwalk, a traditional music concert was followed by poems and readings by local young people Conghaile McLaughlin, Michael McLaughlin and Imogen Holden highlighting the aspirations of local young people and their positive contributions to the Creggan neighbourhood. A fire performance by In Your Space Circus preceded a spectacular fire display as the fire drawings and the bull were set ablaze backed by projection mapping on the walls of St Mary's Youth Club by Jonny Delaney.
Thanks to Triax - Neighbourhood Management Team, OLT HLC and Creggan Neighbourhood Partnership, Hive Cancer Support, Pains Fireworks and MYLO Events for their support in delivering the event. Thanks to everyone who made this event so special! A Communities In Transition Project funded by The Executive Office, Derry City & Strabane District Council and Department for Foreign Affairs.

Tony Doc on playing for Derry

Tony Doc - The Movie
Anthony "Tony Doc" O'Doherty was born in the Brandywell on the 23rd April 1947. After moving to Creggan as a child, there began a lifelong love between man and estate. The latest film from Féile follows Tony's life story as a footballing legend and community worker but also as a father, husband, brother and friend.
Féile 2024 Highlights
Check out this highlight film from Féile 2024.
For the last eight days, Féile 2024 has filled the streets, parks, green spaces, venues, museums and community centres of the Bogside, Brandywell, Creggan, Fountain and Bishop Street neighbourhoods with music, art, sport, magic, discussion, film, comedy and fun.
32 years since its inception, Féile remains the best way to celebrate our people and communities while also discussing how to address the challenges we face now and in the future. In spite of the best efforts of some sections of the media who prefer to platform sectarianism and division and stereotype our neighbourhoods and young people, Féile attracted 20000+ people of all ages and backgrounds from across the city and beyond to the 120+ events at this year's festival.
Féile 2024 would not have been possible without the support of funders including The Executive Office, Derry City & Strabane District Council, Department of Foreign Affairs and the collaboration of the many groups, initiatives, volunteers and residents from throughout the Bogside, Brandywell, Creggan, Bishop Street and Fountain areas who came together to shape and manage this programme of events.
