It's time to celebrate day with Go Visit Donegal. ❤️

Major Coo Golf are delighted to announce that registrations are now open to the Links of Donegal Challenge 2025. Taking place from Monday 14th to Wednesday 16th April 2025. Players will compete across Portsalon Golf Club, North West Golf Club and Ballyliffin Golf Club ‘Glashedy Links’ for a share of Europe’s biggest amateur tournament prize fund of €25,000; plus the chance to win €25,000 in our Hole In One Challenge playing on the Par 3 7th Hole at Ballyliffin ‘Glashedy’. The tournament will also see the return of our Daily Extras with €2,700 up for grabs across the three days.

Major Coo Golf are delighted to announce that the Links of Donegal Challenge will see the addition of the world class Glashedy Links at Ballyliffin Golf Club to the 2025 tournament.

Ballyliffin is widely regarded as one of the finest links complexes in Ireland boasting two championship links courses including The Old Links and Glashedy Links. Renowned for its spectacular setting, outstanding facilities and hospitality, the Glashedy Links has played host to many prestigious championships including the 2018 Irish Open, 2016 Boys' Home Internationals and the 2022 R&A Women’s and Men’s Home Internationals. This month Ballyliffin will welcome the world’s top amateur golfers for its staging of the 129th R&A ‘The Amatuer Championship’ where 288 of the world’s best amateurs will compete for one of the most prestigious prizes in golf.

Only 2 weeks until The 129th Amateur Championship tees off at Ballyliffin Golf Club, with a world class field of the best amateur golfers from across the globe. Previous winners include the 1984 Champion José María Olazábal, 1998 Champion Sergio Garcia and the 2005 Champion, Donegal's own Brian McElhinney (North West Pro Shop - Brian McElhinney Golf) of North West Golf Club.

𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

I’d like to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to each and every player who travelled from far and wide to compete in this year’s Links of Donegal Challenge and enjoy the stunning courses and warm hospitality of Donegal. It was wonderful to see so many returning players from last year’s tournament, mixed with lots of new faces who were teeing off with Major Coo Golf for the first time. The tournament was played in fantastic spirit with 278 players from 129 different clubs from across Ireland competing. It was great to see lots of new friendships being formed in the daily playing groups.

Congratulations again to all of our winners across the individual course challenges and the overall combined Links of Donegal Challenge. I’m delighted to say this was our biggest prize fund ever with €27,700 being awarded across the week; with 138 prizes up for grabs (120 Tournament & 18 Extras) and 81 different winners across the playing categories. Well played to every one of you and commiserations to all the players who just missed out on daily & overall leaderboards through count backs.

Thank you to the wonderful team we had working at this year's event and helped to keep everything running smoothly. Thank you to my fellow starter Sean Meenan who looked after all the players and kept the tee boxes running on time at Donegal Golf Club on Day 1 and then at North West Golf Club on Day’s 2 & 3.
Thank you to our team of experienced Tournament Referees & Rules Officials including Head Referee Billy McCaul, Michael Leonard, Marielaine McCaul, Mary McGonigle and Larry Walsh. The guys did a great job of keeping the play moving and looking after all the players on course requirements.

Congratulations to all of our Category Winners in The Murvagh Peninsula Challenge at Donegal Golf Club, Murvagh and commiserations to all who just missed out on the prize spots through Break of Ties.

A stellar performance from Michael Buggy saw him take the Gross Section with a brilliant round of 71 (-2) and beating the field by 2 strokes.

We have to give a mention to Fiachra O'Flaherty on his once in a lifetime albatross on the Par 5 8th Hole that helped secure second place ahead of Ben Best. Well done. 👏

We're delighted to announce the winners of each category at the Inishowen Peninsula Challenge at North West Golf Club. Massive congratulations to all the winners and commiserations to all those who came close and just missed out on Break of Tie.

A quick shout out to the brilliant Ben Best who was a deserved winner in the Gross Section with an impressive level par score score of 70, beating the field by 3 strokes on a very testing day at North West. A special mention to young Harris Fleming on his second place against an impressive line up that includes a strong selection of scratch cup regulars 👏.
