Throwback from the chocolate fun had on World Chocolate Day a couple of weeks ago.

I did a Chocolate Extravaganza..a 3.5 hour Chocolate workshop followed by a Chocolate themed afternoon tea☕️

I think I out-chocolated most of the guests as no one left without a doggy bag😂😂

Just so you know I've done you all a favour😊

I don't normally plan in that many chocolate workshops during the summer months due to the heat ☀️ but based on the quality of this year's Summer weather I've just packed a load in throughout August.

Thus be assured we will have a heatwave next month...you can guarantee it☀️☀️😂😂😂

Every 3rd Friday of the month we celebrate our love of puds with a decadent 5 courses of desserts, each month a different theme. Whether you come once as a treat or every month as a regular you will be sure of a warm welcome and great atmosphere as we get together at Three Little birds chocolate studio to give ourseves over to all things yum!
As its a secret pudding club the menu is not revealed until you arrive, although you will know each months them in advance.
We always have a communal table so you will not feel the odd one out if you come on your own or in pairs and seperate tables for larger parties.
Spaces are limited as the studio only holds 20 so don't miss out grab your spot soon!

I'm currently trying to work out the menu from 14 choices down to 5...but I love them all😂

A full afternoon of all things chocolate with 12 choccy loving guests!
A welcome platter of Three Little Birds chocolates.
Learing about chocolate and how its made.
Making chocolate lollies.
Making handrolled truffles
Making filled bon bons
Dipping freshly made fudge.
An around the world chocolate tasting experience.
All finished of with a chocolate themed afternoon tea.
Before obviously taking home a bundle of chocolate goodies made in their session.

The next pudding club event is fast approaching 😊

Welcome to June!! Apparently the start of Summer? Well we had 1 nice day anyway!😆🌞

My office for the day today was the lovely Freckles Gift & Coffee shop in Barrow. I was there to catch up & brainstorm with the wonderful Hannah at Frelsi Virtual Assistant Services.

Fuelled by coffee and cake the brains were stormed, decisions made, accountability held and future collaboration discussed!...a fun and productive day me thinks!

Only made better by a suprise appearance from the utterly fabulous Emily Resin&Rose who is not only a lovely friend but also makes the most gorgeous resin jewellery (a special range is also available to buy at Freckles 💍)

Whilst sitting in the car waiting to move I had the widow tapped by another friend Jojo who I've been tying to catch up with forever too.

So it seems like everyone was out in Barrow-upon- Soar today 😊

DID YOU KNOW THERE IS A GLOBAL SHORTAGE OF CHOCOLATE?!?!

Cocoa prices have skyrocketed in recent months, reaching historical highs of nearly £8,000 per tonne in March 2024
The prices have gone up by almost an eye-watering 250% in the past year!!!!!!

The rise in cocoa prices is largely due to a global cocoa shortage. Climate change-induced drought has ravaged crops in West Africa, which contributes over 70% of the world’s cocoa, With over 20% more coming from South America which has also been affected.

So what does this mean for the average chocolate lover.

* Chocolate price hikes
* Shrinkflation
* Recipe changes for cheaper ingredients
* Unhealthier chocolate

It will come as no suprise that prices for the consumer will continue to rise.
The size of your regular chocolate bar will likely shrink in order the price doesn't need to increase as much.
Many of the larger producers are looking at changing recipies to take out chocolate and add in more sugar (you may also see this in the forms of caramels/nougarts/fondant etc.)
There are some who are looking at selling the extracted cocoa butter to the cosmetics industry and replacing it with alternative fats including vegetable oils and palm oil...this is a common practice in some other countries outside of UK and Europe already. This will lower the quality of the chocolate considerably and the higher sugar contents and replaced oils will also mean that our treat of beautiful chocolate is worse for our health than ever before!

So what can you do?

Buy from smaller artisan suppliers who's conscience will not let them supply a lower quality.
Your individual chocolatiers and bean to bar companies are not trying to line their own pockets whilst delivering substandard products, if their prices go up its just them trying to survive.

The price gap between the huge companies and what you will get from small businesses will shrink because most smaller chocolatiers are absorbing as much of the cost as they can themselves in order to keep the business going. Whereas the large corporations have 1000s of investors to whom the HAVE to give a certain return.
Your local small chocolate business will work with you to ensure you get what you need, go out if their way to delivery something special and do a little dance when they get your custom...I don't expect Mars,Cadburys, Nestle etc. Will notice or care if your Birthday was ruined because you couldn't get hold of your favourite choccy treat...but your local artisan will!

I'm not just saying this purely to promote myself. There are many, many fabulous chocolate businesses locally for you to use and please feel free to Google the facts here and check them out for yourselves.

Whatever you do....don't give up on chocolate it is still a beautiful and magical product that will continue to bring joy to many and keep you fingers crossed for a better harvest this year🤞🤞

I had the absolute pleasure of hosting the lovely Michelle and all her wonderful friends to celebrate her 50th Birthday on Saturday.
It was a fabulous day of chocolatey fun that ended with a Bob Marley sing-a-long..🎶".Don't worry bout a thing cos every little thing is gonna be alright" 🎶😆

Such a wonderful group im so glad you all enjoyed the session and it looks like the rest of the day was lots more fun too.

So the results are in from the first Secret Pudding with the theme being Classic Bristish Desserts.
The winner was a real suprise I thought it would be Sticky Toffee Pud all the way but No it came in 5th place!!!!
4th place went to Jam Roly Poly & Custard
3rd place to Cherry Bakewell
2nd place to the Strawberry Trifle and
1st place to Lemon Posset with Earl Grey Shortbread🏆🏆

Well done to those that managed all 5 courses🙌 you are the real champions 🏆😆

I will be hosting " The secret pudding club".
For just £25 a chance to Indulge in 5 courses of dessert...I'd say mini desserts but as many of you know when it comes to food I don't do mini😆🙈
What better way to make new friends than to bond over puddings and cement existing friendships with lashings of custard 😋

Each month will be a different theme and will consist of a selection of hot and cold desserts.
For our first session in May we will be starting with
"Traditional British Desserts" and that doesn't mean lots of old school stodge....although there WILL be custard!

To be part of the club you have to be willing to surrender yourself to the pudding no questions asked...although hints may be given..the menu will only be finally revealed on the evening.
You will be able book a spot on a month by month basis but spaces WILL be limited (we want to keep this exclusive after all😉)
Sign up to be regular pudding club member and get a loyalty stamp for each attendance...for future bonuses.

Individual or smaller group bookings may be placed together on a communal table. Unfortunately it is unlikely I will be able to adapt all desserts to suit allergies and dietary requirements but please feel free to ask and if I can I will.

Come hungry and leave your diet at the door!!

So a bit of a different day today...the focus on Three Little Bees🐝🐝🐝
instead of Three Little Birds🐦🐦🐦!

Well actually that's not correct the focus has been on approximately 60,000 bees!!!!

As some of you may know Chris has been beekeeping in the garden at home for the last 3 years - with my occasional assistance.
He has this year not only got our garden bees to deal with but has now set up new apiaries at Bosworth Battfield Country Park and also on the Three Little Birds studio site in Desford.

So this morning is perfect to inspect the bees as they are happiest in the warm sunshine 🌞
NOT so much fun for us sweating our socks off in full Beekeepers kit!😆🫠🫠

Today Chris introduced 2 new colonies and we expanded 3 others so they all seem very happy with their new homes and are producing both lots more bees and lots of honey.

This will hopefully mean next month we will be able to do our first honey harvest of the year and get jarring it all up....another sticky job😄

So who knew?....apparently you all like Pudding!😆😆
Advertised last week pudding club has taken bookings for May, June, July and August🙌
But there are still spaces available for all of them!

So if you're looking for something different for a get together with friends, a family treat or just a treat for yourself and a chance to meet others and bond over pudding this is the perfect opportunity to ditch your diets at the door and give over to delicious desserts for the evening.

5 courses of desserts served over 2 hours including refreshments for £25. A selection of hot and cold desserts each month a different theme with the final menu only revealed on the day! You can book on any month independently but there will also be a chance to "Join" pudding club and get a loyalty card that will give you future goodies.

1 year in the studio!!! How time flies!
