One of the wonderful things I love about being a celebrant is helping couples get the day they want - regardless of their background, their spiritual standpoint or sexuality.
I never have any expectations when I meet with couples, because when you approach conversations with a blank slate it allows for a couple's personality and passion points to shine through, and these are the little nuggets that I want to really polish. ✨

WHAT IS A HAND TYING CEREMONY?
Hand tying, or hand fasting ceremonies have their roots deep in Celtic tradition, and are becoming a popular visual moment in modern ceremonies.
The couple clasp hands, and their celebrant gently binds their hands with a special rope, chord or cloth and the resulting knot symbolises their union and the joining together of their lives.
The chord can be infused with extra meaning - coloured for the wedding theme, one chord for the bride, another for the groom, important materials woven in any charms added ... The choice is endless. I've even previously performed a hand tying using football scarves!
I made this chord for myself, to represent Sakura Ceremonies and what my couples can expect from me as a celebrant and selected the colours for their symbolic meaning:
🔵 Blue - to represent my calm, reliable approach
🟣 Purple - for creativity and magic!
⚪ White - for openness, and acceptance
🌸 Pink - for romance, (and also as a nod towards the sakura cherry blossoms).
