Compere: Goldie Fiasco - This year's Festival of Winter Ales will be compered by the ‘wonderfully bonkers and totally endearing!’ Goldie Fiasco. Goldie is a veteran performer with thousands of shows under her belt including – Glastonbury Festival Circus Big Top, Edinburgh Fringe, The Social Club Cabaret, Bestival, Shambala, Komedia, and Main Stage Redfest. She will preside over a smorgasbord of delectable entertainment for your delight. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Cabaret: Jude Elizabeth - Jude trained as a professional ballet dancer but turned to Circus over a decade ago specialising in Aerial arts and Handbalance. Now internationally renowned, she has performed alongside Hugh Jackman at The Brit Awards, performed for the Royals and at some of the most prestigious venues in the world. We look forward to bringing her exceptional talent and elegance to our stage.

Cabaret: Jon Udry - There are jugglers. There are comedians. And there is Jon Udry.
Jon combines the two to such a brilliant effect that his unique performance has his audience roaring with laughter from entrance to the final curtain. Formerly the British Young Juggler Of The Year and New Act of the Year Finalist 2018, Jon’s skills and stage persona have brought his show onto various television and radio shows, as well as being a regular on the bill at prestigious festivals like Glastonbury. If you are aged 16-21 then what skills would YOU like to learn and show the whole town?!
Last Friday's post has got us thinking back to another fantastic youth project, where 3 young people had the chance to learn video mapping and projection. They then got to show their skills to everyone as part of the Winter Festival '23.
Perhaps you would like to learn more tech such as sound production? Or how to book artists and bands for music festivals? Or maybe about the sustainable and accessible future of events? Whatever it is that really interests you, come along tomorrow and let's make it happen as part of YEA Devizes - a Youth Event Area created by young adults, for the local young people. This is all free to join in and you can chose how much time you can give to it.
Meeting at the Muck & Dunder in the Brittox at 3.30pm on Tues 28th Jan for a relaxed chat about how to make a better future for the youth of Devizes through public events. We are lucky enough to be joined for the meeting by the incredible BBC Radio DJ James Threlfall MBE to help get things going!

A history of land rights and protest in folk song and story, the show connects the Norman Conquest and Peasants’ Revolt with current issues like the housing crisis, reparations, climate breakdown and food sovereignty via the Enclosures, English Civil War and Industrial Revolution, drawing a compelling narrative through the radical people’s history of England in folk song, stories and poems.

Part TED talk, part history lecture, part folk club sing-a-long, part storytelling session… Come and share in these tales as they have been shared for generations.

Join us for the Festival of Winter Ales on Saturday 15th February, taste the country's best beers and ciders while watching amazing music and cabaret...what's not to love?!

This year the 2 sessions will have a slightly different vibe to each other, based on attendee feedback, so be sure you read all about that on the ticket pages before choosing which session to book.

All proceeds raised at the Festival of Winter Ales go directly to our annual programme of free community events, like the Street Festival, Confetti Battle, Carnival and Winter Festival.

We will work with you to enable you to choose, design and produce a Youth Event Area of the Devizes Street Festival. With our guidance you will select acts and book the infrastructure to create a space to represent and inspire the young people of Devizes. 🌟 Exciting opportunity alert! 🌟 Could you create a giant upcycled chandelier for the Shambles Market? DOCA has been lucky enough to secure investment from Arts Council England which will enable us to create a bespoke installation for the Shambles Covered Market in Devizes. We are seeking a dynamic mixed-media artist who has experience working in community settings to support the creation of large-scale work. We will want you to work with a small selected group of people to assist in making a large chandelier over three sessions. The chandelier will be made from our old stock of 530 plastic champagne flutes and 270 plastic wine glasses. They come from a historical fizz fundraising bar which over time became less popular. The piece should include integral lighting, or reflective elements so it can be lit from a distance, access to power should be a consideration. It should be robustly made to enable multiple uses in different locations.
